2023 in retrospect!

Merry Christmas everyone! Been passive for the past few weeks as you might have noticed, I should get back to normal output in a day or so. Whenever I stop drawing for longer than a couple of weeks I lose the feel for the pen and have to break back into it. As for the year, while it's been good otherwise, fanbox itself has suffered due to the content purge, but not too much. Your subscriptions have stayed stable. Understandably there's been less influx of new people, but otherwise it hasn't been a disaster and I began actually preferring a smaller circle so growing isn't a priority. We finished the Contact Lost storyline, which is nice given I had and still have no idea how to make comics! Then there's the zako series that has begun. While I haven't found time or inspiration to continue, I'll pick up on it soon enough. I have also played with ideas about another series in the Contact Lost universe, based around some of your suggestions and Doc's open ended fate on the primitive planet. The downside is that making a comic page is more work than sum of all panels (even with the downgraded quality of detail), and ofc there's the unavoidable fact that nobody really cares about the story, but about boobs and action (and I'm one of those people myself when it comes to other people's story driven content). But since making a comic page that works out well enough is enjoyable you'll have to accept being exposed to my story crafting attempts in the coming year too. I've learned this year that no shading looks good, especially with simple, abstract backgrounds. You haven't rebelled so I'll take that as a sign I can keep it that way. Shaded pieces here and there, but mostly flat colors. Finally I'll again mention Discord because many people never joined and are effectively missing out on the content that fanbox no longer allows.
