I've never seen it as a commercial for pottery barn. If anything, it was critical of Pottery Barn and their mass produced "everyone has the same stuff" look/lifestyle. It's pretty much how people/shows make fun of IKEA today. That's how I've always seen it anyway.

"She knows how to build a fire" is an incredibly underrated joke. Neither of you even reacted to the cleverness behind that. It used to be common knowledge that the way to make fire in the woods is by rubbing two sticks together....

An apothecary is actually the equivalent to a modern day pharmacist lol.

For me, episode 11 is one of the worst in the series. It’s just a blatant 20-ish minute commercial for Pottery Barn, and as someone who lives in a country where there are no Pottery Barn stores it felt even more uninteresting. I also feel like the Janine subplot ended up being pointless. It would have been better if she and Joey dated a few episodes at least before breaking up.
I really love Chandler’s little speech to Monica though in the last episode. It’s a real ”I love and accept you for who you are” moment. Plus I kinda like the earlier scene with them in bed. They’re both talking about their own thing but they very clearly still listen to each other as well.
I also can’t help but notice that Monica is now sleeping on the left side of the bed, whereas she previously said she had to sleep on the right. I know it’s just a production gaff/ continuity error, but I still like to believe that Chandler also wanted to sleep on the right side and she was willing to give that up for him.
