It does suck that the mom did what she did....but honestly, the further you go back in time the less privilege's women had to marry for love. Women didnt have the same rights and opportunities to live freely let alone thrive and succeed without a man taking care of them. What the mom did early on was not ok but I'm glad they showed her own backstory and the wants she had to put away so her daughter could live a prosperous life.
