2022-01-26 21:31:38 +0000 UTCEver wonder WHY it's not remembered, even for coming in between Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast? I remember theaters showing it in a double-feature with Mickey Mouse's "Prince & the Pauper" as opening act, and I can tell you which of the two audiences did remember on the way out of the theater... (And Rescuers only got a sequel for the same reason Fantasia and Mary Poppins did, back in the late-80's/early 90's when new Eisner-era Disney had to do an old-Disney sequel to show the audience that the new owners were okay, but they literally didn't know which movies were non-happily-ever-aftered enough to sequelize.)

2022-01-25 11:37:15 +0000 UTCThe Rescuer's Down Under is incredibly underrated. It's the only movie during the Renaissance era that people forget ever existed. It's also one of the few Disney sequels that was made for a theatrical release while all the other sequels were made for direct-to-DVD

2022-01-25 06:43:40 +0000 UTCHate to say, but apart from Dumbo and THE definitive Pooh, that's...a pretty mournful selection. No person who likes Rescuers Down Under ever saw it in a theater; The Good Dinosaur realized critics' fifteen-year quest to finally catch Pixar on their "first flop", and after it happened, we didn't feel any better. And Thumbelina was when we first realized that Don Bluth was one seriously messed-up MJ.
