Newsletter - January 2019

Dear Valued Listeners™,

That’s your new name. Do you like it?

I got the idea earlier this month to re-brand my Patreon when I was buying dog food at one of those gigantic corporate pet food chainstores and the cashier asked me if I was a member of their “Rewards Program”. I could tell by her demeanor that it wasn’t something that she wanted to ask. It was a question that her superiors forced her to ask. A corporate directive from above that developed brand loyalty with a built-in employee punishment tool. “Get 10 members to sign up every month or else!” And then it dawned on me: every company worth their salt has some kind of rewards/membership/benefits program, so I wanted one, too. Thanks for being a part of mine. 🙂

And besides, the Swindled Facebook discussion group is named “The Committee of Concerned Citizens”. This helps to avoid any confusion. Not that there was any.

Anyway, wow. This might have been the single largest month of growth in the history of the show. Swindled relies entirely on word of mouth, so I owe you all some gratitude for spreading the word. Also, the Fyre Festival documentaries helped. A lot.

Anniversary Art Prints
I hope most of you have received your anniversary prints in the mail! The first 250 were packaged and shipped and then I received an influx of new patrons (hi. welcome.) and ran out. But never fear, another batch has been ordered. So, if you LIKE this post before February 1st, you will receive one. Also, please don’t unlike and then re-like that post because not only does it make things more complicated for me, you’re actually putting yourself at the back of the line. FYI.

For those of you interested, a larger (18”x24”) version of the anniversary print is available at SwindledPodcast.com/Shop, as well as a few other new items. Use promo code PATREON20 to receive 20% off.

Charitable Donation
For the month of January, 5% of Patreon proceeds will be donated to the London-based War on Want who published The Baby Killer in 1974 to draw attention to the unethical marketing practices of milk companies in the Third World. War on Want is still going strong today, fighting against the root causes of poverty and human rights violations, as part of the worldwide movement for global justice.

Looking forward to getting the print! Thank you as always! ❤

Loved the art print! You are hilarious. Love the show and everything you do!

I need more episodes! This once every 2 weeks isn't cutting it. I have become addicted.

I love the print! Thanks!

The trademark isn't real. Just an added touch to make everything feel a bit more corporate. ;)

Wow, you TM'd that phrase. Well done! I think it's a perfect accolade. These Nestle episode pissed me off enough to rethink how I can get involved in stopping their water drain from my province. I rely on well water and they plan to suck it dry for profit. My local aquifer will not sustain the world.

I think you may have just decided next month’s giveaway.

That is a great idea! I would love that!!
