But he's also never thought of the possibility of being on the lesser end of a negative power dynamic in a relationship.

To add my 2 cents for the AITAH I don't think the wife is the AH. The husband is ASKING HER to quit her job. This can shift the power dynamic so much and she's searching for security. Her having her own job provides security but imagine being in a scenario that you have absolutely no security, no money, no options. That's terrifying. Unfortunately 50% of marriages end in divorce, so she'd be dumb putting every single egg in HIS basket, when he definitely won't do the same.
