2025-10-08 22:05:27 +0000 UTCI absolutely agree with your statement about why it couldn't be Sam as Lucifer again, despite my absolute longing for more Samifer lol. I know its unpopular, but Sam's portrayal of Lucifer was my absolute favorite and while I want more... it would take away from Sam's victory in Swan Song. It would also, i think, negate a lot of Sam's character growth since then. Sam isn't the same kid he was in the Apocalypse (friendly reminder Sammy was only 25/26ish when he went to Hell, younger even than Dean was when he went). Saying yes to Lucifer was Sam's redemption. It was to fight Lucifer, to stop him, to turn away from the power that had corrupted him in season 4, and choose humanity. If Sam had said yes here, it would have been to use Lucifer, to use that power and weaponize it, which, with Sam, is playing with fire. It's his weakness, and it would have been, essentially, the same as when Sam was working with Ruby "for the greater good". And that, i think, was Lucifer's downfall here. As much as it was a smart, power play to use Sam's memories and guilt against him, it also backfired because Sam has had a chance to think on his mistakes, to grow from them and learn how to be better, and this was like Sam's final exam to see if his experience taught him anything. And he passed with flying colors. One of my favorite Sam episodes, and such incredible acting from Jared. His portrayal of Sam's trauma, his terror and horror, especially in the first few scenes, and then the way he said the line "and then... sooner then you think, my big brother is going to come through that door and kick your ass..." The way he reverted, slightly, to being a scared kid facing a bully... just perfection. Also a great showing of Sam's faith in Dean, which I live to see. I adore when the big brother/little brother dynamics are on display
