I just saw someone I follow on instagram mention that they've watched the show 4 time already. I really don't know how one can do that.

I wouldn't even mind an Alpha Bits serial (har har) of Scenario C then B then A to let Haas grow into himself as a showrunner… but, alas, I may not be able to follow Scenario D long enough to get there. -- For example(!!), I'm still waiting in vain for a callback to the pilot premise that these (numerous and redundant) task forcers were culled from teams who didn't want them because — while brilliant and oh-so-very exceptional — they were trouble-y troublemakers who made trouble near and far. As far as I can tell, the characters we're *currently* watching are beloved and admired by all near and far and can tap friends for insta-favors in every department they've ever breathed on, walked past, or butt-dialed. 🤷‍♀️😆

*Sees Jensen.... *brain goes blank Sounds about right to me haha

On the one hand this show needs a writing team so badly, so that different writers can handle the character stuff and also put the plot through their collective scrutiny and poke holes in each other’s ideas and pacing. On the other hand, what was even the idea behind the series in the first place? After Big Sky degenerated from a fresh take on a serial killer drama with several interesting female characters and an evil cop as the villain, into full copaganda with unlikely melodramatic plot twists, i’m beginning to think that middle aged male showrunners suffer from their own version of jensen derangement syndrome in which their brains turn to jelly when they get the chance to work with him. (Kripke the lone exception as he was immunised by five years of SPN)

I have to say I agree with a lot of the points you made, Shelley! I do agree that this task force is too big. And this show needed to pick a lane: Scenario A: Ideal. Both the plot and the characters are stellar and well-written. Scenario B: The characters are brilliantly written and indepth and fascinating, but the plot is kinda rubbish. Scenario C: The characters are kind of two-dimensional and cookie cutter, but the plot is riveting, and clever and makes unexpected but entirely logical twists. But, unfortunately we have ended up with Scenario D: the characters are half-written, or at least some of them are, and don't grip us (despite the best efforts of the actors) and the plot has holes that the average viewer cannot ignore . It's a shame as Haas is really friendly on Blue Sky and interacts with the fans. The cast and crew obviously had a great time together and really got on. They had all the money in the world. But unfortunately it doesn't add up to great TV in the end. It IS Haas' first time being the sole writer (I think - don't quote me on that) and his first time writing for a streamer. He has mentioned that he knows law enforcement people and has those kind of advisers on this show, too - but in my opinion those consultants are not earning their keep! For Jensen (and he is the reason I watched this show or The Boys!), the reasons he took it might include (from what I understand from his interviews), an Amazon show (as he is all in with them), a desire to do a throwback to The A Team and Die Hard style action movie/TV, and (my guess here) steady work and a paycheck.. Plus, I guess show lead outside of the CW and Kripke's projects, so a kind of calling card for future work. Anyway, one episode left for you and then you're done!
