This is one of 4 episodes in The X Files universe, about virtual reality. The other ones: Kill Switch, First Person Shooter, This. All of those included the Gunmen. And if we go way back, there are also similarities with the X Files ep "Wetwired" season 3. People were brainwashed there by hidden images they received through TV signals. But I often confused this episode with the X Files episode "Fight Club", for some reason. The super weird one, with Kathy Griffin, Twins, and also wrestling. Very similar vibe. The thing is, this kind of humor would be way too weird for me, if it was an X File. That's why I didn't like Fight Club. But I'm totally okay with it, as an LGM episode. It's even one of my favorites. Tobolowsky was great. And hey, they mentioned Mulder. I'm pretty sure, the episode also was a Matrix reference. The first Matrix came out 2 years earlier, and it also had people in slime filled tanks, that were connected to the Matrix with cerebral interfaces. The pixelated VR images didn't age that well, but hey, I can forgive that. Much fun. Thanks for the reaction.
