At PurCon I talked to some people who had been in the fandom at the time (since I hadn't been yet) and they said they knew or heavily suspected. I think it was because of the stills for the episode? And also some other promo stuff, they had a few things they mentioned, but I can't recall what exactly it was.

Anyone know if that Destiel hater is still around? Don’t ever see her on my timeline anymore, so maybe I’ve just curated my timeline nicely.

Since Jack had survived illness without bringing forth Cas’s happiness, that left Dean in my mind…so either it was going to be a dropped plotline or be significant, and I was in the edge of my seat as Cas went through his speech. Quite an exciting time indeed!

2025-06-14 20:54:22 +0000 UTCI don’t know that it was fair of her to say that we all knew before the mid season hiatus that Cas was going to die in 15 X 18. Unless I am just not remembering. I think it was good deduction that had us thinking that would happen, but we didn’t have exact confirmation. I think we just knew the near plane crash happened right after a very important night of filming and fandom figured it was Cas’s death. Please fandom correct me if I am wrong.

Oh what a time it was indeed, even as someone who only looked at the fandom from the outside at that time (nov 2020 to nov 2021).
