I have not seen Girls, but I have seen Band of Brothers. And when I read 91w it reminded me of that show a lt at the start.

The church scene alone is some of, if not the, most powerful, emotional, phenomenally well done acting and writing in the entire series. Jared is just incredible, and every single time he utters "so?" it breaks my heart. The way he and Crowley slowly bond, the way Dean breaks in and begs Sam to give up the trials, the utter devastation on Cas' face at the end... just amazing. And then, the final shot of the church with the angels falling, and the music score...haunting, and tragic, and perfectly done. Also, I slightly disagree with you on the whole bringing Abaddon back being kind of plotless. I think there is a very good reason they chose Abaddon, and that's because, at this point, she was pretty much unkillable. They had neutralized her, but if they managed to cure her they could have taken her off the board entirely as a threat. I think they saw it as a way to kill two birds with one stone. Cure a demon, and end Abaddon. Where I think the boys screwed up was leaving her alone in the warehouse. Curing her was a good idea, not so much walking away without leaving a lookout, but in their defense, Sam is barely functional at this point, and Dean is focused entirely on Sam, so slip ups are bound to happen with neither of them at their peak As for the angels numbers falling, remember the first half of season 9 especially deals with the angels civil war on earth, forming factions and fighting against each other to try and get back to Heaven, so a lot of the numbers fall in that, plus the angels that die in the Fall
