One of the best episodes in the entire series because of Iain and Elizabeth's spectacular performance.

Makes sense why this is a lot of people's favorite episode in the entire series.

Also, I love all the hairstyle and wardrobe changes, even during the same scene, in this episode!

This is a gem of an episode and a prime reason as to why I love long form television! A great character study of two of the OG team with all the emotional baggage that they've endured over the last 115 episodes.
And so over the course of 40 minutes we cry, laugh and cower as we get to expeience the inner workings of their brains, and hope that they come out better people at the end. So many standout scenes in this episode but the scenes where Fitz finds out that he died, the first meeting of Coulson & FitzSimmons and the containment pod scenes are my favourites.
Props also to Jemma, who whilst distraught at the loss of her Fitz had the wherewithal to theorise that there was another Fitz lost in space, and to Coulson & Mack who ran with the idea and made it happen.

I just realized why id Simmons attacked Mack so aggressively.
She is still mad about him replacing her in season 2 as Fitz buddy lol.

Such a great reaction - I love this one too.
So so inventive and as you said, such a clever way to slow things down and actually allow Fitz, and the audience, to process what’s happened over the last season and a half!
Loved to see them going back to their past memories.
And it’s also just *such* a funny episode, which after the gloom of last season especially, is such a nice relief. Some of the jokes, line deliveries (I think Iain De Caestecker in particular has a great comic sensibility - his little scream when Jemma turns into a child!) and the arguments they have, are just hysterical.

The unofficial third part of the Fitzsimmons trilogy.
4722 Hours and Rewind were focused on Fitz and simmons trying to get to each other physically while Inescapable focused on them getting to the same place emotionally in their minds.
Id Simmons look is made up of her trauma from all the seasons that she repressed.
She is wet from season 1 finale.
She is wearing the Maveth shirt and carrying the bone knife from season 3.
She is a zombie from being buried in the framework.
Her forehead has the gold and she is wearing the robes from Kasius.
This episode basically tackled the Leopold issue directly.
Fitz and his repression of that darker side lead to his mental break but seeing Simmons dealing with an darker half as well made them understand each other and even those sides love each other.
There is no need to hide those parts and any stress they now understand they don't only have each other but the team to help them deal with it.
