Yeah agreed. There were only a couple of good episodes in the revival seasons. But I truly only watch for the Mulder/Scully interactions.

But at least that was a good episode.

Also I'm not sure if you missed the tagline at the end of the opening credits. It said "THIS IS THE END".

They've ended a season like before where they didn't know if the show was going to return which was Season 7 with Mulder getting abducted.
I remember right after Requiem ended the local Fox News had report that The X-Files my not return for a Season 8.

It's even worse than i remembered, these dialogues are horrible. The worst season finale of the whole series and it would have been better to stop there altogether.

Yes, that season was actually a huge sucess. They had way better ratings than most of season 9. They had ratings that absolutely weren't expectable for network TV in 2016, with all the streaming going on. But then....after years of X Files gone, and only 6 episodes of a revival season, people were just super curious to see, what the new episodes are like. Season 10 wasn't a huge ratings success, because people liked it so much. But for the network it was enough to make season 11, and to make it bigger.

I think it was a very mixed season. I thought "Founders Mutation" and "Were Monster" were fantastic, "Home Again" was okay. But the Chris Carter episodes "My Struggle I+II" and "Babylon" were horrible.

Horrible episode. Can't count how many times Scully said "Alien-DNA", that alone is bad writing. And some of the dialogue is super cringe, especially the cigarette smoking man, who now seems to be the parody of the villain he once was. And what about Monica? Come on Chris Carter, don't do that. She grew on us, now you're making her one of the bad guys? Einstein and Miller again? Please no. 😩 I don't even wanna talk about the ridicolous pandemic plot.

It is a bit difficult to watch your reaction, without watching that crap episode, but I tried.

Some genuine lulz from the episode:
- Careful / paranoid "Trust No One" Fox Mulder who in the premiere has his webcam taped shut, now conveniently leaves a phone tracking application right there on his desktop, without any kind of password protection.
- A goon is sent by CSM to offer Mulder "a deal". So instead of contacting / approaching him and telling him what needs to be said, he instead decides to sneak into his house, get into a fight with Mulder, and not mention a single thing about why he’s there throughout the entire fight.
- Scully stops looters / rioters with great ease, using just words, in a matter of seconds.
- The idea that only six weeks have passed between the premiere and the finale.
- The entire showdown between CSM and Mulder plays out like a parody. "You sent for me… I’m here." A moment later: "I don’t come when you call!"
(And there's plenty more where that came from, lol.)
So if one watches the episode as a comedy, then it certainly works. :)

Things you might find interesting (no spoilers):
- Carter had no way of knowing whether season 11 would happen. Even if he knew the chances were high, he still didn't know for certain. If the ratings for season 10 had failed, the final scene of "My Struggle II" would've ended up being the final X-Files scene ever.
- Carter has stated at one point that one of the reasons for this cliffhanger was to motivate FOX to do more episodes, but the fact of the matter is, if the ratings had been bad, there's no cliffhanger in the world that could've convinced FOX to do more. The ratings were extraordinarily good for the premiere, and then dropped significantly after each episode, but they were still good enough for them to do a second revival season.
- Carter wrote "My Struggle II" at the same time while he was directing "Babylon".
And then there is this mind-boggling quote from Carter himself...
"We're not used to Scully looking up at UFOs. We're not used to looking at Mulder at death's door." (Promo video "Season 10 Cliffhanger" – Nov 29, 2017)

Very enjoyable reaction video. :) As for the episode itself? Pure trash from start to finish. Absolute garbage in every possible way. IMO there is nothing good about it. Zero. My advice is to not try to find answers in terms of making this mytharc work with the original series. It simply does not. It's an insult. Trying to "work it out" might cause extreme headache or even worse. I'm glad you were able to enjoy Were-Monster though. Most fans enjoyed it. I personally could not (unfortunately), because one great comedic episode cannot save the destruction of the mytharc and the character development, both which are the essence of the show. I wrote a very long essay years ago, some in the fandom even called it a "thesis" on the revival, which I will post a link to after you're finished with the whole thing. I am not going to spoil the next season for you, but I do think you were being misled by whoever made you think that the disc from "En Ami" (season seven) is coming back. There must have been some confusion there. Yeah, I'm still enjoying your reactions and I'm excited to see how you respond to the upcoming episodes. But... no, the level of second-hand embarrassment in this episode is 100x worse than the premiere, like, off the charts. Cringe. Sorry I'm being so negative but it's just how I feel about it. I still had some great laughs watching your video. However, I did not laugh when I saw this during the original airing. Take care and best wishes.
