If you did any kind of rewatch I would love you to rewatch, 'Bad Blood.' I can't count the number of times I've watched your reaction to that episode!

I agree with pretty much everything you guys said. I think all the stories were worth telling and actually compelling, but didn’t really make cohesive sense in the end. Like an anti-Gestalt situation.
It’s okay Emily, we forgive you 😂 Maybe instead of a top ten rewatch, you could do a faves rewatch? Each pick a favorite or memorable episode and rewatch that. Or maybe like a couple interviews or bloopers. I think that would be pretty fun. Great reactions as always, this is always my fave video of the week .

I agree, so far the opening episode was the worst. It shouldn't be the worst, as it is mytharc and a reintroduction, but yeah, late stages Chris Carter writing........

Not the biggest fan of this episode. I thought it was kinda mediocre. Not that I don't like the mix of MOTW and storyarc, but I think it wasn't executed well here. I felt like I'm watching three different stories, one about the monster, one about Scullys mom, one about Scully remembering William. And even if they tried to make some connections, I didn't really feel it. However, I liked the music choice here. "Downtown" by Petula Clark. I always love it when they mix horror with dissonant music. Thinkin of "Hokey Pokey" in the ep Chinga, or "Wonderful, Wonderful" in home. The trash monster here reminded me of the trash monster in "arcadia" season six. Kinda ironic, they recycled that idea. 😅 The trash monsters father was played by Tim Armstrong. He's from the punkband Rancid. So...mediocre for me, because I liked some things and disliked other things.

First of all....I disagree. They already had quite a few of those "hybrid episodes", but mostly in earlier seasons. Episodes that come immediately into my mind are "Sleepless" season 2, which was an MOTW introducing Krycek and Mr X, or "Paper Hearts" season 4, where Mulder had to deal with a serial killer, who gave him hallucinations about Samantha. And those were fan favorites, for reasons. This one here not so much.

Not a fan of it, to say the least. The MOTW wasn't explored well. Who was driving the garbage truck should've been addressed. Is it part of the Tulpa? That's what it looks like. Mulder's different explanation of Tulpa in here vs. Arcadia is a blunder. Arcadia is a fan favorite episode where Mulder literally needs to deal with a Tulpa. Mulder is now saying that such a creation would never harm let alone kill anyone. I guess he forgot that a Tulpa tried to kill him season six. Pretty big blunder.
Also, Mulder and Scully have Trashman's admission that he creates these "things", and they both see, with their own eyes, some of them in the halls. Yet he isn't taken into custody, for further questioning. They don't bother to take down Trashman's name? They don't take him into custody to triple-check what's really going on? They just assume that someone he willed into existence is killing these folks? Is that what they're gonna write in their X-File report? Trashman, a suspect, got away, and we forgot to get his name. Who was driving the garbage truck? Did he/she not notice a huge man leaving and entering the back of it? In the scene with the two thieves, when the actual band-aid nose man painting disappears, band-aid nose man physically appears. When he kills them, he leaves, and there is a garbage truck conveniently waiting for him, like a cab. Who the hell was driving the truck?
At the beginning of the episode I thought it'd be the creator of the thoughtform driving this truck, and dropping the band-aid nose man off at various locations. But later it became obvious that Trashman is not the driver. What is the explanation here? It wasn't clear to me what kind of abilities Band-aid nose man had, aside from his strength. In the teaser, he breaks down the door to get inside the office. But near Nancy Huff's place he seems to teleport himself inside the house, and then outside the house. Also when killing those two thieves, it seems he is teleporting. When he kills Landry he also teleports. So why didn't he teleport himself into Cutler's office?
Aside from this mess, the episode fails IMO in trying to fuse two storylines into one: Scully's mother dying and the MOTW case. It also suffers from significant pacing issues just like the previous episodes, but more specifically ep 1 and ep 2. The pacing is weird, the structure, the transitions, so many things are just all over the place.
The best part of the episode is the opening. Great teaser, but not explored to its full potential, in my view. Cramming two stories into one (Scully's mother + MOTW case) was part of the problem, but if they had only given the MOTW two or three more minutes to answer some crucial questions, it would've been a much better episode. I did not like the episode, just like I did not like the previous ones (nope, not even Were-Monster), but I'm glad you are able to enjoy the revival so far! So far, the premiere is the worst for me.
It's so cool Emily is rewatching the series! FWIW, yes Krycek appears in season one as a different character, but it's not "Fire", it's actually "Gender Bender".
