Yes, it hever happened before, a very creative decision. (lol, sarcasm) They've closed TXF in the S1 finale, the S5 finale, and S9 finale. A more important question about CSM would be, at this point... (except how he could be alive, if it's really him), would be... who is the hand giving him that cigarette? ;)

By the way, I think you maybe missed what the smoking man said in the end:"The X Files have been reopened."
This is huge. 😅

"I only WANT to believe" he says, because "real proof has been strangely hard to come by". Lol. Just lol. Men are abducting people? Wow this is total news! Oh wait, we've known that since season two. OK I better stop. Sorry guys.

Aside from all the negative reviews of the first episode, I specifically remember an event where they showed that whole porch scene, and the vast majority of the audience was convinced that it's a parody and wouldn't be in the actual episode. Cringe.

I forgot to add, this is one of those cases where the title PERFECTLY summarizes an entire episode. It is "My Struggle" indeed, going through those 42 minutes. Not your video. Just the episode.

It was painful for me to go through this episode again. I enjoyed your reactions though. Yeah, so much cringe, so much second-hand embarrassment, so much... yeah, we'll save that for after the whole revival ends. But fun trivia: When they showed that porch scene at an event with Mulder & Scully "you're on fire!" etc., people who saw it live actually thought it was a parody and tweeted things like how this is so awkward it can't be from the actual episode, lmao. As for CSM... the season nine finale script literally says that he is dead, gone forever, so... it would be interesting hearing your theories if this is really him or not.

I remember that at a convention or something similar, this first episode was shown and most reviews and fans reactions were very bad. Because of the terrible dialogues, especially the one between Mulder and Scully on the porch, the resurrection of the cigarette smoking man, the bad wig of Gillian and above all the ridiculous separation of Mulder and Scully.

Sweet, sweet summer children😉💛all the struggles, were all my struggles. Glad you seemed to like it, though. Oh, and the installment of that wig is horrendous.

You know some time has passed, when you see smartphones on The X Files. Actually Skinner had the first one in the movie and he googled with it. 😅 Yeah, Tad O Malley is definately The X Files take on Alex Jones and infowars. They felt like they had to adress the role of conspiracy theorists in todays political and social landscape, because they didn't want to follow that neoconservative, alternative facts and anti-science narrative. And I think that was a good decision. The only thing that felt a bit off again was, how Mulder seemed to be opposed in the beginning, but suddenly totally in line with O Malley's bs, kinda inconsistent. He's definately not like Mulder or The Lone Gunmen. Not the kind of conspiracy theorist we felt sympathy for, in the show. He's too close to the real ones we see today. The smoking man lives, yeah. I felt the same way about that. I mean...his head flew off, come on Chris Carter. Maybe the russians from the movie transplanted it? What do you think. 🤣
Another thing: Good we are back into aliens, but the 2012 invasion never happened? Seems like another lazy decision by Carter.
There were mixed opinions by fans about this first episode. A lot of people felt, that some of the dialogue felt unnatural, out of character, some even said like a parody. But people liked it definately more than the movie.
