I totally feel your frustration with the season. It is my least favorite season. I also found it irritating during its original run.

Me too. Everyone is feeling the pressure. Even the audience. If they knew exactly how the world ended then it would be much easier to look at which actions lead to what but that's the point. Not knowing could lead you down that exact path.

He could have. But he's not a medical professional of any kind. Plus, it's really funny.

Said it before and I will say it again: Mentally, these people are just beyond fucked. Going from the horrors of Framework to the horrors of a possible future dystopia and then back to the present with minimum information on how to prevent said possible future dystopia from happening... It's just too much. These people need a break and they are just not getting one. There collective brains are all fried. And, I have to be honest here, I kind of love it.

Remember in the first couple of seasons when you noted that they would deal with things in a single episode that most series would take a whole season to uncover? We got spoiled. At first every episode was a bottle episode that had to be wrapped up in one go, because they didn't know how long they were going to keep making them, but at some point they moved to a more serialized format that had big story arches over more than one season.

Bummer you're not too into this part of the season. I really love this season including this part. I love the heaviness of it, how bleak it is, the philosophical debates, the desperation, etc. Although Ruby and Alex aren't my favorite part, I enjoy them. They're such a traumatized pair, hurt people hurting people, and they pose such a unique threat. And I do think the spinning of the wheels thing is a bit of the point because the team's sanity is also unraveling. But I also get why someone wouldn't like this part of the show as much, but I do think the rest of the season is really awesome and episodes 15-17 are a bit of a lull. There's been other parts of the show that I've thought were also a bit boring (the beginning of season three has a few episodes that I think are pretty mediocre, for one).

Mack should have slid that hair net down to his beard.

Tom Hardie

5 episodes left. Unfortunately you still have a little ways before you get concrete answers.

Your frustrations are valid. The fandom don't particularly love Ruby but the Hale Ruby storyline is supposed to be a direct parallel to Coulson and Daisy. Hale and Coulson are very similar. Taking the remains of the the organization they served for most of their life and making something new , building a team and trying to get their successor to be something they may not be ready for yet. All these story threads are important but it really is a slow burn. I can tell you that it will all make sense by the end. The Ruby and Strucker part of the story is important for what comes next. Something important to note. Mack was being lead by piper who was in training to be a field medic so it wasn't completely blind surgery through it could have gone way worse. The team is truly realizing how important everyone's role is. Simmons and Mack did the surgery on Yoyo arms and since Fitz was locked up they did not consult him on the arms. He would have accounted for her powers. The superior is gone. The head was revealed by Yoyo so her smashing it means he is truly dead. Hale gave him back his head because he was going to test the machine and she wanted to see what his human head would do inside it. You asked about Fitz and why the Leopold thing seems to be dropped. Fitz fully embraced the Leopold part of him by the end of 5x15. Even his joke about yoyo arms so soon shows his empathy is a lot lower than it was. He is colder and more logic based but not completely heartless. He basically says Simmons is his better half and her hopeful nature is helping him be more empathetic and less logical. When you look at him you are looking at Leopold and Fitz together. Also the opening with them jumping from the plane is a call back to when Simmons jumped in 1x6 and Fitz was going to but he said he had trouble with the straps on the parachute.
