I believe that the comics have been turned into some kind of ”old timey-radio theater” with all the actors like Gillian, David and Mitch. 👏🏼There are two series with different episodes: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjxZ88Wc5qjlvQDwkOL1c4agyVlyD9KO_&si=qw-IuzgwDjnKu482 💛 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjxZ88Wc5qjkYub68IQS00oxVSHp5801o&si=3wDmAUJR-_UjAEN7

This whole reaction was so good! I wish I could remember what I thought of this finale at the time, but I don't. I probably found it satisfying though. This show started when I was in high school and by the time S9 ended I was out of college and in my adult job. What a journey. I'm not a big shipper in general, but I did ship Scully and Mulder, so I loved all of that.

Frank Spotnitz, X-Files producer/director/writer: "You can't get the truth. You can't. There's a larger truth, though: that you can't harness the forces of the cosmos, but you may find somebody else. You may find another human being. That may be kind of corny and all that, but that's really it. Love is the only truth we can hope to know, as human beings. That's what Mulder and Scully found after nine years. And that's a lot."

If Emily is distraught over the fate of the Lone Gunmen, just know she's not alone.
And given that, may I recommend there was a comic book series that continued the world of The X-Files. .. and may give you that jubilant moment you had (briefly) in this finale episode...
The comic book series was even officially called "season 10" and "season 11" and was considered canon until the revival seasons were actually filmed.

Hi! Just watched the finale with you. I will write a proper comment later, but I just wanted to thank you and say that this was an amazing, adorable, precious, fabulous, outstanding, emotional, moving, gorgeous, incredible, charming and wonderful reaction and I love you both! ❤

Wow, what an amazing ride(for the original run). I genuinely enjoyed watching it again with what felt like friends. You both are so fun and made X-Files days the highlight of my week(s). I’m so sad it’s almost over. Thanks for all your time and effort!!
-Do you think the show holds up to a modern audience? Would you recommend it?
-What was the most interesting(or personal favorite) storyline/MOTW? Best season overall?
-What is the most you’re looking forward to for the reboot? Who do you want to see(if there will be any cameos)?
-Where do you rank MSR in terms of your personal ships?
-(Shelley) Will you be adding Scully to your wall of portraits along with Buffy and Xena?
-(Emily) Did you make them your wallpaper?lol

You are right. I am interpreting the creator's words subjectively. Sorry.

Everything is entirely subjective. So are each of your comments. So, when you say that I'm wrong, and giving us an explanation why, it's nothing but your own interpretation of Chris Carters words.

I won't comment on your dislikes of the finale because that's entirely subjective and I even agree with some points, but you are factually wrong about the revival. Chris Carter himself has said, I quote, “I call it a recreation of the show.”, when referring to season ten. It's literally neither a reboot nor a continuation, but an "event series", a revival. What we now call seasons ten and eleven was originally "Event Series 1 & 2". We'll leave it to Shelley and Emily to decide whether seasons ten and eleven feel as a continuation of the original series. :)

My question for the wrap up:
The concept of a next generation X Files didn't work out, obviously. What do you think is the reason, and could they have done something better to make people invested in Doggett and Reyes.

I am one of those who wasn't too happy with the finale, but I'm not going to trashtalk it for you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. But I want to explain what I didn't like.
Reasons:
1. The courtroom drama: I expected something else for the finale, not all of them sitting and discussing in a room. Okay, there was a bit of action after the prison break, but it felt a bit underwhelmimg for the big finale.
2. The whole recap: Honestly, I didn't really need that. Everything they wrapped up in the courtroom was stuff I already knew. We already know how the dots connect. Hey, it's the finale. Give us something new, a shocking reveal, or some new answers on questions we still have.
3. Fanservice: Okay, I get it. You want to bring back all of those beloved and hated characters for the grand finale. But does it really help the episode to bring back Krycek, Mr X, The Lone Gunmen as ghostly visions for Mulder? Am I alone here or does it feel like cheap fanservice? They are dead Chris Carter. You killed them.
4. The truth: I said it before. Give us something new, give us answers, give us the truth. Well, we've gotten something. The 2012 reveal. But that's not enough. We always knew the colonization will come. And all you give us in the finale is a date? That's the big truth? Okay.....
Funfact: It was already hinted by the syndicate in "Patient X" season 5, that something big will happen in 2012 and that it's alien related.
None of my concerns are MSR related. No, I'm not a shipper. I'm fine with the whole MSR part in the show, but it doesn't do too much for me personally. What makes or breaks X Files for me is the plot. The MSR is a nice bonus.
Looking forward for your next reactions. But the revival isn't really a reboot. It's just a continuation. Seasons 10 and 11. 😊

What a great watch, that was so fun. And truly, WHAT were they thinking naming a character's whose name has to be said over and over again KNOWLE ROHRER - every time they said it I thought of Bob Loblaw's Law Blog 😂 wtf
Now that you've seen the entire first run - if you were to recommend one episode for someone to watch, out of the 9 seasons - which one would you choose? Not exactly as an introduction, but one that "represents" the show best?

Someone should have a talk with Marty from the lighting-department, though😉😂 Love your reactions, so heartfelt. Questions: 1) When everything is done, reboot and everything, would you consider to do a overall top-ten for the entire show? Maybe rewatch just those episodes? 2) The first movie was mythology-heavy, is that something you would look forward to in the next movie or would a more monster-of-the-week-movie be okay too?

I knew this was gonna be a great watch along, first of all the shirt. The alien shirt was awesome along with the fox shirt loved it and then when you guys saw Mulder, it was awesome. It was everything I hoped it would be. All of the fake out moments, all of the screaming, punching, the laughing, and the drinking it was all great. Probably my favorite reaction video ever.

I simply loved the reactions! I was hooked, as if I were watching it for the first time—I love that feeling lol. Personally, I was very satisfied with this ending at the time; I thought it was as complete as it could be. And the moments between Mulder and Scully were totally worth it! I’d say the ending of the eighth season would have been a happier one, but considering everything that happened afterward, I believe they wrapped it up in the best way possible.
And I don’t know if you noticed this, but they closed the series with a reinterpretation of the iconic scene from the pilot episode, where they talk in the motel room, in exactly the same positions as in this final scene. That’s such an amazing fan service moment! I even recommend rewatching that scene from the first episode. ;)
It was a beautiful journey! It’s not over yet, but in a way, it’s the end of an era. Thank you so much, ladies! You brought so much joy to us, longtime fans, especially the shippers hahahaha

My questions for the wrap-up video...
1.) Do you agree that seasons 9 and 7, respectively, are definitely the weakest seasons of the original series?
2.) What are your top three standalones of season 9, and why?
3.) What changes would you make, if you could, to season 9, to make it more enjoyable, despite Mulder's absence?
4.) Do you have any specific expectations for the upcoming movie?
5.) Are there any things that you'd love to see / to happen in the revival, and things that you'd despise?

Whoa! That was just soooo awesome to watch! :D Seriously one of, if not the most enjoyable reaction videos I've ever seen, to any episode of any show, ever. So much fun from start to finish, I was thrilled by your remarks throughout the whole thing which made me actually enjoy the episode more than I did during its original airing, lol. As for the actual episode... fan reviews are mixed, some view it as a "clip-show" that shouldn't have been. I can understand that point of view, but I still think it succeeds as a finale.
Although I do prefer "Existence" (season eight) as being the perfect series finale, I definitely do accept this one as the official end to the original series. Yes, there is plenty I could nitpick, but for me it's still a great finale despite some things I dislike. So, I will try for this post not to be negative. I really enjoyed this episode during the original airing and I enjoyed it, as I said, probably even more watching you guys react to it. My X-Files (head canon) ends with this finale, and the second movie I view as a bonus, so to speak. I do not consider the revival to be canon, but it will be interesting watching you react to it.
I like the fact that you call CSM's death to be without ambiguity. Aside from the fact that we see the flesh melt off his bones revealing the skeleton, just seconds before the entire structure he was hiding in gets blown to pieces, literally pulverizing everything inside, we also have the following from the script itself, page 91, and I quote:
“A FIREBALL FLIES DOWN THE TUNNEL AT THE CSM. FLYING RIGHT AT HIM, AND INCINERATING HIM. VAPORIZING THE FLESH OFF HIS BONES. KILLING HIM — SMOKING HIM — once and for all.”
With that being said, this definitely is the end of the original X-Files series! :) And even though your reactions were enjoyable from the beginning, you really started loving the show as the series went on, and it was so fun to watch.
I thank both of you, Shelley and Emily, for the high quality entertaining X-Files content you've provided, and continue to provide. I will remain a member of your Patreon to see the upcoming S9 wrap-up, the movie, and the revival. But yeah... the series ends here for me. Fan opinions differ of course. Some even prefer "Requiem" (season seven) as the perfect finale, which I strongly disagree with, but to each their own. This was just so fun to watch, I almost felt like I was back during the original so many years ago, and it just gives me the feelz. Great work!
Best wishes and greetings from Germany.
