I think the biggest take away about Cas's power is that although he's shown to be more powerful than Chuck, in canon he doesn't want to do away with Micheal and Lucifers cage. This is the downfall of Lucifers character where Sams hallucinations of him becomes his default personality. Alternate universe Micheal said God could be killed, so maybe whatever roundabout way that could be, might be what Cas was worried about with Micheal and Lucifer.
