Crowley making changes to hell as he did so much really makes sense why the demons get weaker and less violent.

Kyle

Eve definitely couldn't have gone toe to toe with Raphael, none of the previous big bads and most of the future ones, could.

I don't hear it talked about (have you all heard it talked about?), but I've always thought this line means Samuel was pulled up from hell by Crowley. (But that he doesn't remember that when we meet him.) That's helped explain for me, if he really may not have been a great person, why he can so easily turn against his grandsons later...

The "big bald patriarch" line from Crowley in this ep. always went over my head until now.

BexFangirl

Mine too. It's a classic.

Shelley, I'm really surprised you even asked the question as to why both Sam and Dean drove those boys to their uncle's house...lol. Bobby even made it pretty clear. Brothers moments, or boy melodrama (BM as it was canonized in "Fan Fiction") are the bread and butter of the show. I mean, the writers know their audience and even if some don't like it, the show is what it is. To look at it from a subtext level though, I have always noticed that when they are trying to give the shippers a little something, they definitely balance it by throwing a bone to all of the different factions. That way no one ever feels left out. Gotta love that they are inclusive, though. I do find it fascinating that people can really have very different perspectives on the same scene, episode, story and even season arc. This fandom never disappoints. Lenore was brought back and killed symbolically. They were killing off all of Sera's characters. She was one of them. So was Rufus. I'm forever bummed we missed so many good episodes from this season. Caged Heat, Frontierland and Mommy Dearest are some really excellent stories. Two of those episodes are some of SPN's peak ensemble episodes, IMO. They have a certain something that is lacking in later seasons.

I also love Frontierland. It’s one of my ‘feel good’ episodes to rewatch when you need some fun.

also, as for Cas raising Sam… i always thought he did actually bring back Sam soulless on purpose. He doesnt actually answer Sam when he asks, just responds with another question (a typical sign of guilt or deception), and with how concerned he was about putting Sam’s soul back in in the first place, i always had a headcanon that Cas had seen first hand how damaged Sam’s soul already was in the Cage, and he genuinely thought Sam would be safer, better off without it. I dont think he did it maliciously, i genuinely believe Cas, most likely never having met a soulless person before, thought he was helping Sam by leaving it behind. And the reason he wouldnt answer Sam, had avoided him for a year, was he saw what happened when Sam walked away from Dean and knew he made the wrong choice

speaking of Frontierland, and Dean’s prophetic alias for Sam “this is, er… Walker. He’s a texas ranger”, i really hope you react to Walker! Jared does such an incredible job in it, and i would love to see your thoughts on it
