The X-Files - 9x7 "John Doe" Full Reaction

I think the episode is done very well, and most fans seem to like it, but I'm not a huge fan to be honest. It's good, but nothing special (to me). Maybe it's just the subject matter or the lack of X-Fileyness, not sure. It's too "unresolved" for me. I would have loved to know a bit more about the antagonist stealing people's memories. As far as Doggett regaining his memories, I am pretty sure that even though they kept coming back to him slowly, meeting with Reyes resulted in a major turnaround, causing him to be able to retrieve all of it. And speaking of Reyes... although her origins are not mentioned before, I'm pretty sure "Reyes" as a surname is of Spanish origin, so it's not really a retcon in that sense. When it comes to languages, I'm fluent in German and conversational in Russian... and I can tell you that Cigarette Smoking Man's german (in episodes "Anasazi" but especially "Triangle") is absolutely embarrassingly bad, pure cringe, to the point you would have trouble understanding it without subtitles. Krycek on the other hand, does a pretty good job, 100x better than CSM's German. I do agree with you though, that they should have said "born" instead of "born AND raised", if her pronounciation is really that bad. Regardless... to me it's an OK episode with some pretty cool moments, and "artistically" it is very well done, but I guess just for some personal preferences it's not an episode I am in love with.

I really like this episode. There's a lot of film grain, but that really was an artistic decision by Michelle Mc Laren, one of the very rare female directors of the show. Classic amnesia story, reminded me a lot of Mulders amnesia episode "Demons" in season 4, when Mulder was the suspect of a murder case, and he remembered things from the past, about Samantha. Similar concept.
