The X-Files - 9x3 "Dæmonicus" Full Reaction

This episode is IMO better than lots of garbage we've seen in season seven. However, it's far from being on my personal favorites list. "Alright", as you put it, is a good way to describe it. I think it succeeds with the atmosphere making it pretty dark and evil, but it's unnecessarily convoluted and in a way also somewhat too ambiguous, even for The X-Files, if that makes sense. And some of the transitions are weird indeed. With that being said, the next episode, titled "4-D", is one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, and I say this in all seriousness. Normally I wouldn't post anything spoilerly ever, but after seeing all the YouTube comments about people (unfortunately) providing unnecessary information about season nine and also trying to convince you that it's trash, I felt like throwing in something positive in my comments. As the user above (Baconbob23) said, don't give up. Don't let anyone tell you, myself included, what is good and what isn't. Everyone has a right to like/dislike a particular episode or season. The XF fandom (like some other fandoms) can be quite toxic, and if you voice an unpopular opinion on Reddit or elsewhere, fans will attack you like wolves, seemingly behaving as if there is a holy book about this series with clear set rules that need to be followed on what to like and what to dislike. For example, you are not a true fan if love season eight, or you have terrible taste if you don't think Humbug is a masterpiece, or if you like Doggett you are against Mulder and Scully's relationship, et cetera. Unfortunately lots of e-fighting going on many years after the show ended. Just... enjoy the ride as you are doing right now, and see if this season can please you in any way. End of rant. :)

Not much to say about the case in particular. They tried to make it a really dark episode, but there were things I didn't like that much, those weird transitions, the puking scene felt weirdly funny, and not as disturbing as they might have intended it. Mark Snows music almost made me fall asleep here. It was an ok episode. The Doggett/Reyes dynamic grew on me, during the seasons run. Introducing Reyes as a maincharacter (which already had been planned since her first appearance in season 8, and had been openly communicated to the fans), while withdrawing Scully a bit, made absolute sense, if you look at the longterm contractual problems they had to deal with. I leave it like this, because I'm not sure how much you want to know about that. However, I thought it was a clever and consequent move, pulling Scully off the X Files, to make her a teacher at the academy.
