So about Mulder giving Scully over to Krycek. I think you can see the pain and stress on his face when he handed Scully to Krycek. He understood the threat that Billy Miles posed was even greater Krycek. He also realized that there was nothing he could do to protect Scully from Billy Miles as Billy Miles was basically unstoppable. He didn't have time to think it through and a split second he decided the better option was to give Scully over to Krycek and allow himself and Skinner to hopefully be a diversion.

Within, Without, The Gift, Per Manum, This Is Not Happening, Deadalive, Three Words, Vienen, Essence, Existence. Half the season, really. Plus some Mulder references in episodes like Patience and Badlaa, the season overall feels IMO more serialized, similar to season six.

You're right. They never ended a season with a full twoparter before.
But I don't agree, that this season has more mytharc compared to the others. The pacing is just very different. RIGHT NOW there's a lot of mytharc squeezed together (since Mulders comeback), but the first half of the season had almost nothing mytharc related, it was MOTW after MOTW after MOTW. I think it's just a very different pacing this time, mostly because of David Duchovny. π But if you count the amount of mytharc episodes, it's quite an normal season, with 3 twoparters and 3 single mytharc-ep's.

... and I forgot to add in my last post. Regardless of Krycek's motivations, as we don't know what they are at this point, I too find it a gigantic out-of-character moment for Mulder to see it as a good idea to have Krycek protect Scully. It's in my top five (or even top three) out-of-character moments in the entire original series. Now regarding the medication Lizzie switched, you might've missed it, but the female doctor told Scully they were just vitamin pills.
