Ward being the double agent in every world is so funny lol Warning: politics rant incoming Americans don't understand fascism due to their whitewashed non material dialectal education system, it's not as simple as people yearn for fascism, they think fascism= dictatorship, democracy = no fascism, that's not what fascism means at all, the na zis came to power democratically and na Zi Germany technically did the Holocaust democratically, the na zis lost but fascism definitely won, fascism is a tool in the hands of capital owners, when capitalism is in decline (which happens almost every few decades because it's not a stable system) capital owners use fascism to "restore law and order", it always rise in time of dire socioeconomic conditions, when people's financial situation keeps getting worse and worse due to the natural progression of neo liberal policies that concentrate wealth in the hands of the 1%, people start to look for answers to why that's happening to them and without any sort of class consciousness u start to believe in conspiracy theories or any explanation, capital owners are never going tell u it's capitalism, the media they control is doing red scare propaganda 24/7 and delivering acceptable explanations (acceptable to the capitalist class) like it's the fault of the Jews, or the Muslims or the migrants which are all given the title of "communists" coz of course, just anything but capitalism, don't analyze anything from the lens of class, it's a way to divide the working class so they don't rise against them, all US media is just fascism machine, fascism is when u create an in group and an out group and blame that arbitrary out group for the economy failing, that's what fascism is, u can do that in a democracy or in a theocracy, the political system doesn't matter, i$rael is a fascist country and they do it democratically, the in group is Jews, the out group is Palestinians, in the US the in group is white evangelical Christians and the out group is everyone else, I live in Egypt under a dictatorship, it's awful but it's not a fascist country, there's no in group and out group based on a religion or ethnicity that gets blamed for the economy or "society's ills", if the 10% christian population was being blamed for the economy and being exterminated or something that would be fascism, but simply calling dictatorship fascism is false, capitalism requires imperialism to sustain it, u have to send soldiers to fight in countries to get their resources like the middle east, they commit horrific war crimes, killing children, raping, torturing etc.. what do u think those soldiers will do when they come back home? Do u think they will just assemulate into society? They feel like they risked their lives "serving their country" then they come back home and they don't find any of the safety nets they have been promised, most of them joined the military out of poverty in the first place and now they r both poor and have PTSD, they start to look for answers or explanations and the only answer the media is giving is it's the migrants fault, it's the trans folks fault, it's African Americans, it's the Muslims etc.. so of course they join fascist militias, the majority of police in the US voted for trump and votes republicans in general, it's already a police state and the police keeps getting more and more militarized, a quote I love is "fascism is imperialism turned inward", fascism doesn't have to be this cartoonishly obvious, it's important to be able to spot it. Sorry for the ramble, rewatching this episode in the current events is very interesting
