I LOVE this episode so much. Definitely in my top ten of the series. I'm also on the Hendrickson love train. I really wish they'd kept him around for longer, he's freaking awesome. He would have given us some fantastic episodes working with the boys. (Same with Bella, I know a lot of people hate her, but I loved her and her witty sass. =) And I also shipped her and Dean. lol (Well, after Dean and Cas) <3 I don't think Ruby sent the demons/arranged this, because remember NONE of the other demons knew her real plan, they all thought she was a traitor..only Lilith knew the truth (as per what Ruby tells Sam after he kills Lilith). Re why they have the salt.... Where I lived most of my life in PA, it is very common for bags of salt to be stored at the police station for road crews and sidewalk maintenance. Side note - You have to give it to Nancy for being willing to step up and sacrifice herself to save her friends. Breaks my heart how it ended up going down. =( I think this is definitely a myth arc, with Lilith winning the episode unfortunately. =(

I really wish they had kept Henrickson around. I would totally watch a spinoff starring him. I think Ruby knew that Dean wouldn't allow them to kill Nancy, and her plan all along was to make Sam start doubting Dean's judgement. I'm thinking ahead to Season 4 and how Sam kept saying Dean wasn't strong enough to fight Lilith even though it appeared to be the angels' plan for Dean to be the hero. Ruby is already sowing that seed in Season 3, and Sam is starting to trust her more and more.

The conversation about the new leader was between another demon and Sam (before Ruby and Dean arrived). Also, they did say he, but remember- demons lie. You can't take anything they say seriously, especially in seasons 2-5, because remember, they need to lie to the boys to manipulate them, and the writers want to confuse and create suspicion for the viewers... we are getting false information, so we can be blindsided. The boys are getting false information so they can be controlled. The whole theme for season 2-5 is demons can't be trusted. That goes for us as well lol

Every time.

Jus in Bello was my favorite episode for years! Such a great self-contained action episode, with both hilarity and heart throughout.

The police department has salt on hand to salt their entryway/sidewalks in winter to melt the ice for public safety. Ruby got in because the deputy messed up the salt line on the windowsill when he looked out the window. If we look for a reason in canon why eventually they tend to kill the meatsuit rather than do the exorcism spell, I think it would be too many outcomes like this episode, where a demon escapes to cause more havoc or prevent their escape.

Anyone else in their head automatically hear Jensen say “…like men in tights” from the blooper reel?

Dean and henricksen have great chemistry, season 3 was really generous with dean ships, I shipped him with both henricksen and bela and they both died too soon 😥. Dean's plan was smart but unfortunately one demon escaped on Nancy's watch and they probably told Lilith so even if ruby wasn't working with Lilith that escaped demon would've tipped her off, but I believe that even if no demon escaped, ruby would have snitched to Lilith because she needs Sam to fear Lilith, so it doesn't matter, I do wonder what would've happened if they went along with her plan tho

"Why would they have that salt?" It's a good deicer, which is a necessity in Colorado (where the episode takes place). Totally agree on Henricksen, he could've been such a cool recurring character :(
