This is the episode when they started using the new plate. Because of Hendrickson. They needed to try to cover their tracks and their old plate was now in the system. My thoughts on why Dean's "perfect world" wasn't so perfect is that it reflects how he thinks about himself. He doesn't have a very high opinion of himself and so it shows in even his perfect world. Maybe the Djinn had something to do with that too, but I think it's really Dean's subconscious coming into play. He thinks that if it weren't for hunting he and Sam wouldn't have a relationship. And, to be honest, Sam has clearly shown that he doesn't approve much of how Dean acts or behaves, so that is something that Dean has taken to heart too. So, of course, he'd think that he'd be a terrible brother if it weren't for hunting. And about John not being there. I think there's too much stuff there with John and that Dean can't separate it into being anything else. That John would be too much of a presence and intimidating. I don't think Dean can even imagine John being any other way. But, with Mary, it's all still open for her being anything and being how he envisions her in his childhood memories. I think the drinking is part of that too. He knows that Sam thinks he drinks too much. Dean likely thinks he does too. I do think that Dean isn't actually addicted to it, but he does use it to escape. To deal with emotions. It's hard for me to really explain this, but I tried. This episode is so sad. We see that Dean really does want a normal life, but now he's really seeing how impossible that is for him. That it will never happen. And he's starting to just accept that and embrace the fact that he's just meant to be a Hunter. A killer. That what he wants does not matter and he will never get what he really wants and he needs to just accept that and not look back.

The only thing I like about heart is that parallel with Madison asking Sam to kill her and Rowena asking Sam to kill her in the final season, that's it, also shirtless Sam didn't hurt but yeah it's absolutely like a cheesy fan fic

FYI, the KAZ 2Y5 license plate is only in S1 and some flashbacks. They started with the CNK 80Q3 in season 2. Itโ€™s an Ohio plate, which is the state Kripke was born and raised.

This is one of my fav MOW episodes. I am disappointed that we did not see much more of Djinn's in the show as the concept had so much more to give. Season 2 does not get enough love in my opinion, it is in my top 3. I do not rate Heart as a episode (I appreciate the acting) purely because it all happened to fast to warrant the level of emotion. I think if the story had been over a few episodes and had a slower burn, I would have liked it more but it just did not work for me. Loved all the other episodes you mentioned.

There is actually a cure for lycanthropy. We find it in season 12, but it isn't always effective. Mick from the BMOL helps Sam and Dean use it on Claire when she gets bitten

for heart, I think NO ONE won, most definitely not Sam. If you have to give it so someone then give it to Dean ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผ

I completely agree with you on Heart! IMO the only decent part of the episode is the last bit with Jared crying and the focus on jensenโ€™s face at the end. Other than that it is so melodramatic and it had a self-insert fanfic feel to it as if itโ€™s a Sam x reader fic lolllll

I love this episode so much. I don't think the djinn was inventing this reality in detail, it just nudged Dean to dream up his ideal world and this is the best he could come up with - he literally can't imagine a world in which Sam is happy and living a normal life AND still gets on with Dean, or Mary is alive AND so is John, or he has the perfect job, girlfriend, normal life himself AND it's untainted by his drinking and unreliability. Which is heartbreaking. When he questions the reality with the appearance of the girl in white, the realisation that all the people he saved had died etc, that's not just his subconscious resistance breaking through. It's also his subconscious awareness that the price of his happiness is the terrible losses of other people. Mary's promise to him of 'no more pain or fear, just love and comfort and safety' is like a pre-echo of the offer he rejects in s4 and s5 from the angels, and again from Amara in s11. On Dean's drinking... The whole djinn dream is tied back to alcohol with the discovery that Carman is the girl in a beer ad. There are a few times when it's made explicit that he has a problem. Moments that come to mind are in s7 when they're trying to get drunk to tackle the MotW, and Sam asks him if he can even get drunk (because he's so habituated to alcohol during the misery that is season 7). He does actually describe himself as a functional alcoholic in the episode where he gets turned back in to a teenager in s10. And in Stuck in the Middle With You in s12, Ramiel calls Mary, Sam and Dean "three humans with one good liver between them". I went to look up Raelle Tucker - she left SPN to work on True Blood and she also worked on Jessica Jones (yay) and most recently developed The Power. As well as You, Sera Gamble created The Magicians where she got a lot of hate for killing off a favourite character, so it's kind of her thing.

Great stuff! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜„ (We do find out much later that there is a cure for werewolves. The BMOL had one and they use it for Claire but that not until like s12. Plus most regular bitten wolves are mindless when they change. Itโ€™s not until we learn about pure blood with Kate the werewolf and find out that pure bloods and a few generations after them have more control during the change.) I love this episode Jensens acting is so good, so painful to watch. And I really liked your comment about them being poor Summer children, they have no idea how much worse it will get ๐Ÿ˜„ a great reaction. Cheers ๐Ÿ˜„
