It's not a coincidence that the two shows (GO and SPN) have so many similarities. As was already said here in the comments, Neil Gaiman was asked about it and stated that Eric Kripke was a big fan of his works, that they talked about it many times, and that Eric Kripke took inspiration from them. And sometimes it’s easy to miss in a fast paced witty tv remake but both of them are huge scholars of the human condition. They pay a lot of attention to people being a mix of emotions and motivations, and to them making good and bad decisions. So once you get a feel for the characters I think your style of deep analysis will really suit this story! 😄 plus it just good fun! 😁 Glad u are enjoying it so far.
