How did Lotus end up starting the V10 era with a lead driver who went there to continue with Honda, a second driver who was backed by Honda but Judd engines?

Paul Walsh

Recently when you covered Montoya’s final win with Williams you touched on Buttongate and referred listeners to the excellent podcast in S3. In that episode Glenn said there was a sequel to Buttongate in 2005 when Jenson changed his mind about joining Williams for 2006. What were the details of that?

Paul R

how do you think Ralf Schumacher’s F1 career would have gone in a world without Michael Schumacher?

We had lots of cruel final laps defeats in the v10 era. But which close calls, if they had happened would have been the ones to pass into infamous legend. Stuff where after the race you are told the car was one wrong step away from stopping. Glenn I am sure would take jerez 97 if the Williams battery which was hanging by a wire had come loose. I would offer alesi and his sole win, where he was on the edge with fuel. just imagine him not getting his day of days, and the bizarre knock on effect of a Jordan 1/2 3 years early!

You've several times referred to the matrix management system at McLaren in the V10s era, and not usually as a success. How does this matrix compare to or differ from today's set up at McLaren?

Sue Moorcroft

Other than those who move onto other motorsport categories or stay within the F1 bubble in media, management etc, we don't hear a lot about what F1 drivers do once they leave the sport. Has your research uncovered (or do you know of) any interesting stories of how drivers from the V10 era have spent their retirement? I seem to recall Jarno Trulli doing a lot of charity work towards the end of his career, but can't think of many others.
