Road to F1: Who are the potential F1 stars among this year’s F2 field?

Formula 2 has never been more relevant, having produced six full-time rookies for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

So having heard your requests to talk more about the F1 junior ladder, we thought what better time to discuss who might be the future F1 stars on the 2025 F2 grid.

In this Members’-exclusive podcast, Josh Suttill, fresh from the F2/F3 paddock in Imola and Barcelona, is joined by long-time junior formula aficionado Val Khorounzhiy to discuss the standout F2 drivers this season so far.

There’s also chat about the most impressive F3 driver and the 16-year-old with only one on-track appearance on an F1 weekend who may be better than all of them.

If you liked the episode and want to hear more about F2/F3, F1 Academy and other junior series, comment below to let us know.

Was that the F3000 + ITC (then FIA GT) combo show that ITV used to run on non-F1 weeks on Saturday afternoons? I also loved that, it was my window to some great series I'd only ever have read about otherwise (as was Top Gear Motorsport on a Friday night). Absolutely showing my age there.

More content please. For me there's a massive gap in digestible F2 TV content. I don't have the time to watch 2 full F2 races a week, but the race highlights don't work for me either as it's just cars going around a track and I don't know who the drivers are. I used to watch the F3000 and GP2 highlights shows in the UK which were great for a casual fan - interviews pre and post the race, and detailed highlights which covered all I wanted to see. Bring back 'International Motorsport' please!

With Alpine taking Merc engines next year, I could see a way for Alex Dunn to take a seat there but still be retained by Mclaren.
