More KTM MotoGP drama: Acosta angst, Steiner link, Bastianini woe [ad-free video]

Pedro Acosta was unflinchingly loyal to KTM during the worst of its financial crisis. But now its future seems sorted, there's been a change in his tone.

Why the sudden angst?

In our latest video, available ad-free here on Patreon and featuring a cameo from Scott Mitchell-Malm, Matt Beer and Simon Patterson discuss what's going on with Acosta, whether the KTM/Enea Bastianini relationship is doomed already, and the potential change brewing at KTM's satellite MotoGP squad Tech3 involving ex-Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner.

If you look at Acosta's results last year he was more competitive, or at least seemed so. So its understandable he would think they should get better results, especially when there are 2 less Ducati's on the grid, so he looks at everything and says it must be the bike, and why is it the bike .... well that must be KTM. Maybe he'll get a ride for VR46 if Morbidelli continues to bump other people off

Great content. I wish this had also been published as a podcast so I wouldn't have to watch it. There was no "can't miss" video content (Matt's, Simon's and Scott's handsome faces notwithstanding).

With regards to Bastiannini, is it likely he will part ways with KTM before the end of his current contract? If Martin leaves Aprilia, could he be a target for them?

Aki is currently the KTM factory team boss. Unless the new management boot him, I can't see him interested in taking over Tech 3, especially when he has had his own successful team in the past.

Given Aki Ajos experience running independent teams and history and current relationship with KTM, is he the most logical suitor if Herve is indeed looking for an exit? Would he be interested or would he be priced out with the 'new money' investors taking an interest post-liberty media

Steiner shouldn't be judged on HAAS F1 teams recent improvement, he should be judged by the fact started the team and he also saved the team. The tech model with Ferrari was, arguably, genius. Rich Energy ...not so much.

Do we think the Indian GP will come back with all of this Bajaj investment?

I think Acosta is just that type of person that will not be patient and say what he’s thinking. He wants KTM to be as focused and determined as he is. Bastianini is probably just trying to get himself sacked 😆😆
