BBV10s 1993 Revisited: Canadian GP

The 1993 Canadian Grand Prix was the race where all bar one team’s cars were declared illegal, sparking a political battle so big that the stewards that weekend stepped back and allowed everyone to race, while passing the debate over driver aids up the chain to the decision-makers at the FIA.

After breaking with ‘Revisited’ tradition and taking a brief detour into off-track politics to explain what was going on there, we then move back into on-track matters, looking at the dynamic between Williams team-mates Alain Prost and Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher almost coming to blows by mistake, and some feisty driving from Jean Alesi at the scariest point on the Montreal circuit.

the esses section of the old circuit is really difficult in modern race sims.

Just catching up on this and intrigued by the suggestion (albeit motivated by self-interest) of pushing the driver aids ban back to 1995. I wonder if that would have prevented the carnage of early 94, or if those tragedies were inevitable at some stage and a sad necessity to force F1 to take safety seriously.
