Has Bagnaia really saved his MotoGP season? (ad-free)

While Marc Marquez effortlessly dominated the Aragon Grand Prix ahead of brother Alex, his Ducati team-mate Pecco Bagnaia went from a dismally off the pace sprint to a genuinely encouraging Sunday race.

Did 1.5cm of brake disc really have a transformative effect that will change Bagnaia’s 2025 season? Simon Patterson, Val Khorounzhiy and Matt Beer ponder the key to Bagnaia’s turnaround and how significant it might actually be.

Yamaha’s tumble backwards, KTM’s surge forwards and Aprilia’s latest rider intrigue also feature, there’s a mild argument between the Joan Mir Fan Club and Johann Zarco Fan Club arms of the podcast panel and Simon has a downbeat rant that comes from a place of genuine love for MotoGP.

Just coming back hols in and around Rome so i'm on catch up. My quote would be "A yellow spring doth not an Ohlins make" I think it was Shakespeare after testing an aliexpress shock absorber. Is MotoGP a bit dull ...? Not really dull it's still bikes but yes theres a disconnect between these bikes and road bikes (ride height / aero) and ducati is completely dominant not just with MM. If you look at the 2015 year (because its also on the podcast) there were 3 bikes that would probably win and another 3 that might there were also a mix of tracks that favored different bikes and different engines. The tyres were front end bias, so overtaking under brakes, not rear where they level and rely on the drive out. Lastly the sprint races are a bit pony, not just because the teams dont get practice time but it seems to cheapen the series in concentrating on spectacle over the pure racing.

I agree wholeheartedly with Simon. This year is so long. I do agree with Matt that part of it is the Marc/Alex monopoly at the moment. However, I think it was Winston Churchill who said, "too much of a good thing makes MotoGP stale".
