2015 Revisited: MotoGP’s tense farewell to Indy

Remember when the United States had multiple dates on the MotoGP calendar? That era ended after 2015 when the split with Indianapolis left Austin as the series’ sole US round.

But at least Indy went out in style, with a pair of ultra-tense Honda vs Yamaha fights up front that both had big title fight ramifications.

Simon Patterson, Val Khorounzhiy, Megan White and Matt Beer relive all of that in the latest of our mini-podcasts journeying through the entire controversial and thrilling 2015 MotoGP season, including their takes on the Indy road course as a MotoGP venue and how the championship’s fared in America over the years.

I feel like there was a lot more overtaking than we saw on screen. Was this locally produced at the time? It seemed like there were two battles up front and we were always watching the one with the bigger gap, then we'd get a replay of an overtake we missed. Meanwhile there's a battle going on with the other two. Luckily these sorts of shenanigans seem to have improved greatly this year with coverage of racing up and down the field

As a resident on IN, I'm surprised that teams drove to O Hare from Indy. There is an international airport 10 miles (by road) from the speedway that has almost hourly connections to O Hare.
