Simon on Martin's rivals' reactions to his bid to leave Aprilia
Added 2025-05-22 17:10:49 +0000 UTCSimon reports from the Silverstone paddock as the MotoGP world reconvenes for the first time since the bombshell news that Jorge Martin is trying to get out of his Aprilia deal (which runs through 2026) having barely even raced the bike yet due to his injuries.
Martin's erstwhile title rival Pecco Bagnaia and Martin's close ally Aleix Espargaro had particularly interesting takes on it - and Espargaro also revealed a lot about Martin's struggles in recent months as his absence goes on.

2025-06-04 14:46:00 +0000 UTCIs Martin bi-polar ??? He's in a hole after winning the Championship and hitting these (largely self inflicted) injuries he would be quite depressed and that can lead to looking to blame others, usually closest to you. His reactions to situations look very much like mania and depression.

2025-05-22 23:10:54 +0000 UTCThis is such a mess! I like Jorge, but on the face value of the rumours, he does seem to rush into decisions without full knowledge of what he's actually doing. Rushed to sign for them which was a mistake. Yes angry Ducati didn't sign him for the main team but his management should have got him to cool off first before making a rash decision. Now it looks like he may have made another one!

2025-05-22 21:36:30 +0000 UTCSo it was Martin rocking the boat. And not Aprillia looking to shaft Jorge by negotiating out the 6 race clause?

2025-05-22 20:56:29 +0000 UTCDorna must not be happy at all with all this Aprilia - Jorge Martin situation. You just need to listen dorna's pre press conference event to understand that the hosts had the speech prepared and roasted Martin live.

2025-05-22 18:37:20 +0000 UTCHe already has a reputation as a bit of a money grabber, surely this isn't a good look. He's barely got more miles on that Aprila than me!

2025-05-22 18:23:18 +0000 UTCThanks for the talk Simon. I appreciated all the little cameos in the background too. I think I saw Fermin and Pedro walking together, David Alonso ride bye on a scooter, and was that Pit Beirer? It's just nice to see the paddock milling about in relative ease on a Thursday. I hope to make it to a race someday - cheers.
