MotoGP's title fight is in big trouble (ad-free video)

Marc Marquez only has a 22-point cushion over his brother Alex and could concievably lose the MotoGP championship lead at Silverstone.

But Marquez's huge points day at Le Mans may well go down as the day the 2025 MotoGP title battle was 'broken', because on pure performance this year his rivals need every break they can get.

Can the 2024-spec Ducati stay good enough to keep Alex Marquez in the mix, and is there any route back for Pecco Bagnaia - who once overturned a 91-point deficit - from 51 back this time?

Exactly. I am not sure if Marc is also targeting Rossi's 89 premier class wins (he's currently at 65) but there is no doubt he is aiming for 8 MotoGP championships and 10 overall world titles.

If Marc finishes a race from now til the end, he’ll be on the podium and that’s sprint and GP. He’ll get disruption from Pecco, Alex and probably Fabio in certain races. As I’ve said for a while, Marc’s eyes are winning the title first then winning a 10th title to beat Rossi.

I agree. The strength of field has been weak over recent years, but that is not Bagnaias fault to be fair.

Pecco had to fight Jorge Martin. Martin and Pecco are not in the same league as Marquez. Love him of loathe him to need to acknowledge the absolute talent Marc possess. I mean, Pecco is struggling to beat Alex race after race. That's no slight on Alex by the way. He's consistently the only one fighting his brother for the podium. In the Marquez/Lorenzo/Rossi era I genuinely believe Pecco would have been chewed up and abandoned by now.
