i forgot to mention that you were right to wonder why dean wasn't trying to move away when the ghost doctor was trying to drill into his head, dean wasn't trying to move, he wasn't trying to save himself, it's subtle but obvious in retrospect, it was a hint

Dean never had an encounter with him without showing genuine fear and the audience completely understood why. Death was ancient and terrifying and at the same time, genuinely funny. RIP Death.

2023-01-23 00:15:12 +0000 UTCThis episode is my absolute favorite one of the season (thus far, at least ;) - I'm really glad they worked out a very poetic way to keep Billie in the game that fully made sense for the way the universe works. Also, Lisa Berry is such a freaking bamf omg lol Alsoo yeaaaaaah - Dean has had a really bad habit for a long time, now, of sort of emotionally checking out once Cas is out of the picture, and it gets better/worse depending on the episode and what's going on with the MOTW. It's always agonizing, seeing him like this, but it's sort of the inevitable end-product of bottling everything up and not talking when you really need to. But then, even Dean's not really consciously aware of how much losing Cas devastated him, until he is - and he's finally able to say "I'm not okay." And because he *finally* confronted that fact, he got his win. :)

2023-01-22 15:40:09 +0000 UTCThis episode was kicking on all cylinders! This is why Sn 13 is so good. The case the guys went on was really scary, I always get creeped out by the ghosts and this was just as spooky as "Asylum" in Sn 1. Nice throw back terror show! The big reveal about Billie, chef's kiss. Such a great character and to have her back is awesome. She brings a so much to being Death and I love it. As for Dean I love how Sam was trying to take care of him. But Dean has to crawl out of these holes on his own, and after we knew Cas was alive I knew when he saw his face again Dean would be alright. And he saw he face again! On every level this is such a good episode. It gave me a good scare, and earth shaking reveal with Billie. We got Dean pulling a "Dean Winchester" only to be lifted up by seeing his best friend is alive. really good writing, really good.
