McLaren’s tyre-management strengths have been a major talking point in F1 recently, with the FIA recently clearing its design following a detailed inspection after the Miami Grand Prix. The latest episode of The Race F1 Podcast delves into this.

Jon Noble and Ben Anderson join Edd Straw to discuss McLaren’s advantage and the reasons why certain rivals are pointing the finger behind the scenes.

We also discuss Carlos Sainz Sr’s emergence as a possible candidate to stand for FIA election and what he would need to do if he’s to be a serious challenger.

There’s also another batch of listener questions covering Yuki Tsunoda’s start with Red Bull Racing, Williams’s form, Aston Martin’s struggles and more.

Jean Todt had conflicts of interest. Not sure it matters anymore

I think the big difference is that all of those examples you mentioned are history, whereas Sainz Jr would be racing in F1 at the same time as his father being the FIA president. Also, of those three only Todt worked for the FIA

While I understand that Carlos Sainz Snr would face reasonable questions on conflicts of interest if he was to be elected FIA President, my question is, why isnt (or was there?) these same concerns for others? I.e Stefanos history with Ferrari, Jean Todt’s similar history, or Ross Brawn’s history too? I understand it’s a different relationship however, a conflict is a conflict.
