Could Marc Marquez blow the MotoGP title? (ad-free)

Marc Marquez has won three of the 2025 MotoGP season’s grands prix so far but crashed out of the other two - and that means he’s once again lost the championship lead after the Spanish Grand Prix.

Simon Patterson and Matt Beer convene for a quick mini-episode of The Race MotoGP Podcast to try to figure out what’s going on with Marc’s errors, how Fabio Quartararo and Yamaha came so close to winning a race and what Alex Marquez finally getting that elusive grand prix victory (and retaking the points lead) means for the season.

And The Race Members’ Club had plenty of opinions on all three topics for us to factor in too.

We’ll be back for a full podcast after Monday’s post-race test at Jerez to go deeper into the weekend’s many storylines.

Comments

Marc was definitely under pressure from his competitors and his own drive to win. Those first few laps when Pecco and Co tried to rough him up worked. Then, those bloody tyre pressure issue where riders like Marquez have to be at the front with clean air. And in a corner he knows he's fast tried way too hard and went in hot.

Simon Patterson made a good point that Marc has not ridden the GP25 in traffic much, and maybe it caught him out.

When Bagnaia said something along the lines of the Ducati is almost too good you don’t know the limit til you’re down, is there anything in that as to why Marc crashed? He seemed as confused as when Pecco was crashing on Sundays
