Why does Marc Marquez keep crashing? [ad-free video]

Marc Marquez would probably be 54 points in the MotoGP world championship lead not one point behind but for the crashes that have happened in the only two races he hasn't won since becoming a works Ducati rider.

Val and Matt debate Marquez's errors, and their possible causes and consequences, in our latest video, and Simon reports from the Jerez paddock to sense-check Pecco Bagnaia's theory about his team-mate's mistakes and to give a bit of credit to the Marquez brother who's actually leading the world championship now.

I think there are couple of extra points to make. Firstly, Marquez is being put under a lot pressure in the first few laps, other riders know they need to attack him and put him under pressure, Marc wants to get to the front ASAP and then dictate the pace. Secondly after so long out of the running with bike issues and injuries he's absolutely desperate to win ever session, every qualifying and every race. The two things together I don't think are a good combination. I still think Marquez will win the title and probably by 100+ points. Just at the minute he's put himself under pressure.

Honestly? Wishing crashes and potential injury on a rider Is extremely low. Thanks for showing us who you are.

watching him crash never gets old.

All podcasters are wrong :) they should try speaking Australian accent in all podcasts and then understand what Marc Marquez is trying to do. He doesn’t not look like Marc Marquez on Ducati. Whenever he is relaxed like Austin or forced to react like in Jerez, his natural “accent” of Honda front end dependent style comes out and he crashes out as Ducati is more rear end grip biased bike. I am biggest 93 fan and don’t think he has looked like he will be able to keep this all season long

My opinion is the Ducati GP25 is not as good as the GP24s yet when on medium tires and when they are not leading the race. Marc has been overriding the bike which is making him crash. Pecco is being conservative, because he lost the championship last year, and does not want to make the same mistakes this year. I think Pecco is being smart being conservative and racking up the Sunday points. Of corse, he needs to solve his Sprint race issues. When the GP25 is sorted, it will be a championship race between Marc and Pecco.

Weird that people are saying Marc has been leading all the races when in his three wins he was mostly in second.
