Love this episode! But seriously, how can you not adore Dean's "And our best friend's an angel? Whaaaat?!"

Jensen managed 30 seconds on the bull. Most professionals can't stay on that long. My mother had dementia and this is a very emotional episode for me. She had exactly that mix of childlike joy and overwhelming fear.

been waaaaiting for this one! absolutely a wonderful episode, especially if you're a dean girlie or a jensen enjoyer. jensen is such a fantastic actor and while i will be forever grateful we had him on spn for so long i am thrilled he is getting other roles now to show off his incredible range. this truly is An Episode, it has nearly everything and i adore seeing this side of dean. and the bull riding scene. ๐

This episode was sooo good. Jensen KILLED it. I think this episode especially shows his rangeโฆ going from great comedic timing to hit-you-in-the-gut pain. And that mirror sceneโ-my heart!! ๐ฅฒ I thought the beginning of the season was โehโ.. but itโs definitely begun to pick up. Now we just need some more Cas and I will be very extra happy! Lol ๐๐ And love me some Rowena!! I was so happy that Sam reached out to her for help. Even though she started out pretty โbadโโฆ I just love her. She is so powerful and classy and awesome. โค๏ธ

Yeah, this episode is definitely reminiscent of "Yellow Fever." It also reminds me of "Mystery Spot" from season 3, the one where Sam keeps reliving the same day, but Dean has no memory of it.

Love this episode. The mirror scene breaks my heart every time. Quick note while I'm still watching: Rowena wrote "stay" on the window, but you'll notice the notes in the trunk are in *Sam*'s handwriting -- recognizable from the hotel room and how he directs Dean with no's and yes's and knowing which gun is Dean's. (No way Show or the boys would let Rowena in that trunk. ๐)
Just finished watching and updated to add something that occurred to me for the first time:
I've always really enjoyed the bull riding at the end โ including the brilliant song choice โ just for sh!%s and giggles โ but this time my appreciation grew because it landed more firmly that, combined with Dean's remark "I was like a god," it signals that Dean got *all* his memories back, up to and including investigating this case, effectively I might add, and the poor waitress (Elka) who obviously would've preferred to be remembered and have personhood, goshdarnit.**
** (Thank you, Meredith, for not leaving that on the table.)
Simultaneous to having his preexisting memories, Dean has โ if we believe him โ the relief of his experience of being spelled being a "blank."
And this is just the stuff I *missed* before! ๐ There's a lot of other good (the comedy, the nuance, the action, etc.) that everyone else has commented on, so I'll simply reiterate: I love this episode.
p.s. My mom had a big crush on Harrison Ford, so I've seen Regarding Henry. It's very Flowers for Algernon, both of which buh-roke me. ๐ข

Last episode was cas centric and this one is dean centric, we keep winning! This episode is written by Meredith Glynn, one of my favorite SPN writers, Kripke even snatched her for the boys season 3 and she did a great job there too, i love her so much, look out for her episodes they're good, Meredith Glynn, Steve yockey and Davy perez are 3 new writers who joined this season who saved the dabb era for me, coz if it was just dabb and buckleming i would've surely quit the show, so i am very greatfull for them, unfortunately most of the power was in dabb and buckleming's hands so it's still a small victory but a much needed one, i adore this episode, my grandma had Alzheimer's so it really does hit hard so i appreciate the humor sprinkled in it to balance it, omg i love Rowena so much and every scene with her was gold here, she's very powerful and knowledgeable, i love when she says Samuel, dean broke my heart, you probably didn't notice this but dean saw a bloody handprint on a tree and immediately said "And our best friend is an angel, whaaaaat!!", Even when he forgot his own name, he saw a handprint and immediately remembered cas!!!! Ahhhhh! And Cas is my best friend, aaaaaah, also dean riding Larry ๐, i get the message of dean being lighter without his trauma and memories but subtextually (specifically visually) it looks like post orgasm glow, Hollywood usually uses the woman riding a bull scene as a way to sexualize women, for the male gaze, as a fantasy for men to picture the woman riding um something else, so it's very interesting putting dean in that framing with the slow mo, the implication that had dean not been raised the way he was and not have all his trauma he would be the happiest riding...um Larry, anyway i loved this episode to bits, it deserves all the awards, all the rewatches, Meredith and Jensen did a fantastic job

And this is in my top 20 episodes of all of SPN. Love this episode so much. Jensen's acting in that mirror... amazing. It is very much a Yellow Fever type of an episode. I loved seeing him 'ride Larry' at the end lol.
Next episode - look out for the director credit ;)
