I so agree with you on Lucifer not being scary after season 5

Hasnaa

The whole Rick Springfield as Lucifer is one of my least favourite storylines the show has done, honestly this episode is one that I had pretty much forgotten about because I don't think I have ever rewatched this in its entirely since it aired and rewatching it now yeah...I didn't miss anything haha

Stacey

I'm glad to be done with Rick too, however, I don't hate his version. It feels more threatening, tbh, than Mark's version. But because we saw Mark's version first, and most, it's hard to 'see' SPN's Lucifer in Rick. IF, however, Rick was in a stand alone movie as Lucifer, I think it would be embraced.

Of course, Rick Springfield has a special place in my heart as a late 70s, early 80s teen.

I am soooooo relieved that the Rick Springfield Lucifer is done and over with. Now we can finally move on to the next episode where I think season 12 finally starts to get good.

I also like that Mary's adapting. Plus, it was a cute wink from production design that Dean didn't get to follow up with playing "Lucifer" as his next turn in Words With Friends.

I should've read this before I posted on discord. I'll just reshare in part since now it's relevant: I tried an experiment this time around, namely, putting *huh-yooge* blinders on when it came to Rick Springfield's interpretation, taking him in complete isolation from the storyline and previous iterations of Lucifer. *Only in doing that*, which I had to do as a conscious choice, was I able this time to appreciate some of the interesting layers he brought to his interpretation. That said, I'm still glad he's departed. Thanks for stopping by, Rick. You don’t have to return the dish. 👋 p.s. Shall I DM you a supercut of rock-outfit Dean and Sam? 😉

It’s more about having the same mannerisms than being jokey. Rick carried none of the same MP mannerisms…even of his serious side. Rick said no thank you to watching any MP episodes and created his own Lucifer. So for me he just didn’t maintain the continuity.

It's not bad, it's just more serious and less jokey which I think the writers wanted cos he's supposed to be a real threat again.

So happy to be done with Rick Springfield. It’s painful to watch his interpretation of Lucifer after having had such a great imitation from Misha last season. It’s so bad, I never rewatch this episode and so I miss out on the fun with Crowley and Cas, plus both Winchesters looking fine in their rock outfits.

I do love this episode. Having seen a lot of hair metal bands myself - the old rockers like Motley Crue, Def Leppard.etc It kind of resonates with me a bit. I do agree about Rick being my least favourite Lucifer. He didn't study the Lucifer character like Misha did and he played him in a different way. I love the fact Mary is now no longer a technophobe, she must be better t technology than John was - Dean didn't believe his dad could text in season 1 lol.

Yes, not one of our group has killed an arc angel except a suped up Cas with all those souls inside of him.

There’s no actual plan that can be done, short of bringing in another archangel or angel smiting, you can’t actually beat Lucifer. They tried the circle of holy fire last season and he got out of it and beat up Crowley in Cas’s head. Cas only beat Raphael because he had millions of purgatory souls and we saw how that turned out. Crowley and Cas are a great odd couple.
