VOTE for the next season of Bring Back V10s Revisited!

It's almost time for us to start the second series of Bring Back V10s Revisited, where we will go back through a classic season race-by-race during 2025.

Last year we chose 1997 to be the first season we went back to, but this time you can decide where we go.

Glenn Freeman, Edd Straw, Matt Beer and Ben Anderson have all nominated a year they would love revisit, but the final decision is in YOUR hands.

LISTEN to us debate our choices here! ▶️ https://www.patreon.com/posts/which-classic-to-124201901

So cast your vote now, and we'll be kicking off another season of BBV10s Revisited in April!

Comments

Given we know know Damon was having a tough time mentally that season, it might feel a bit 'kicking a man when he's down'.

James Atkinson

1993, I can't wait to hear everything about one my greatest memories, being at Interlagos for that amazing afternoon!

Kiko Costa

1993. Simply because Edd was so convincing! His pitch was the reason I became a Patreon in order to vote!

Tuomo Seppala

1993, as it was one I remember watching on the BBC. But also now being old enough to understand the context of all the other things that were happening like the spectre of Mansell in Indycar looming over the season. Some memories I remember include Jackie Stewart being on commentary for the British GP after the untimely passing of James Hunt, Michael Andretti's almighty shunt at Brazil where his car was flung into the catchfence or Zanardi's spectacular crash at Eau Rouge, where we had a few really close calls before all the tragedy of 1994.

lightsout

We only want 1993 for the back of the grid. As does Edd!

Henri Hayler

What?! 40 percent atm for one of the most boring seasons in f1s history won by at the absolute minimum effort and with zero passion by the worst ever great champion in the history of the sport who was better suited to being a chess player than to be in a sport that's supposed to be exciting like formula 1. Watching Prost drive was equivalent to watching paint dry. Vast majority of the races and the qualifying sessions were dull the gaps were enormous, overtaking almost non existent, driver skill suppressed by the horrific driver aids and the only variable factor was unreliability. Yes Senna won some great races in the wet but even then he just scampered off into the distance while Prost kept embarrassing himself as a pathetic wet weather driver. To sum it up, did Edd rig the vote or do half the people voting here have insomnia and want a surefire cure?

Alex Goltsman

Sadly, yes

The Race

Are we calling it? Has Edd’s sales pitch worked?

Simon

Team Edd till I die!

Maltese Falcon

Yep, Edd’s sales pitch won me over.

John O'Hara

16 episodes of this, in for it even though 1999 was a much more ca-wayzy season. It's actually quite nuanced as a season, lots of backroom stuff going on and the racing wasn't bad (at least some variety of winners!). They could do a whole preamble episode going over some of the 1993 Indycar territory leading up to how we ended up with the line up of drivers and teams, and referring new listeners back to the old BBV10s episodes.

Alexander Law

Edd's enthusiasm is infectious. And I don't know much about 1993. I'll take it.

TMB

Don’t even think it’s the best option, but Edd has wooed me.

James Hoyle

Team Edd

michael cook

Having a series of podcasts where three of the panel incessantly moan about Edd and the Members Club is going to get funnier and funnier. Well done everybody.

Simon Emms

Voted 03 just for a change of scenery l. 93 will also be good.

Mike Tiano

Voted 99 before listening. Wish I'd voted 93 now. Sterling job from Edd. Everyone needs someone who believes in them as much as he does for the 93 season!

Joe Sweeney

I voted 2005 because from memory there's such a variety of stuff going on but I get how Edd's enthusiasm has become contagios, looking forward to listening whicever choice wins!

Seb

I love me some backmarker teams and drivers so I'm sold on Ed's impassioned pitch.

Mike Hogg

Edd sold 1993 for me. I'd love to revisit the other seasons though. I was only 4 years old in 1993 so the season I know the least about!

George O'Donnell

1999 was the first season I got properly emotionally invested in. Schumacher's injury stopped him from easily taking the title, but it made for an exciting title fight once Ferrari realised Irvine could do it. Frentzen with his unlikely title challenge too. Maybe the last hurrah for the true independents. And a Damon being rubbish segment in each episode would be particularly fun 😉

crog

Ouch, that's a tough one! 1999 was newsworthy mainly because Schumacher breaking his leg then Ferrari somehow getting so bad during his absence. But, 1993 was a great season too.

Cardiff Giant

For future consideration, 1989 and 1990

Oscar Robledo

93 also has Johnathan Ross doing voiceover on the season reviews

Ben Hawkes

2003 was my first season as a 13 year old fully invested. 2005 was my vote as I became an Alonso fan in 03. Anything before 2001 I wasnt watching but my Dad and Grandad did. 03 is also the first season my 15 year old wanted to watch

Andrew Simmons

Honestly Eds case for 93 is very convincing. Plus I'm sure Ben's sanity will thank him haha

Scott

That was definitely funny and something they should continue doing, fading Edd out while he throws out random "easter eggs" about that show's events...

Bill Adkins

this should be a ranking of the 4, rather than picking one! I have to say Edd sold me on 1993, but I'd for sure do 1999 too. Ironically both of them would be amazing if you could ever wrangle getting Irv the Swerve to guest spot. 1993 would be great to relive Suzuka and Senna, and 1999 there would be so much to hear about from his perspective with some distance. Perhaps you could arrange a chat when coming to Miami?

Bill Adkins

Really giggled at the fading out of Ed at the end of the pod, poor thing

Olli Emmerson

1993, the year I got satellite TV and was first able to follow the whole weekend through practice and qualifying.

Peter Wilde

I'm loving that Edd has some female burner accounts - no one would ever suspect :D

Simon Emms

2003 was the first full season I watched and loved how unpredictable it was. The chaos of Brazil was one of the highlights of that season with Jordan and Fisichella winning...5 days later.

Jonno

Yes, poor Damon is just collateral in our desire to laugh at Ben

The Race

I had no interest in 93, but Edd's passionate case swayed me

David Saiya

If 1993 does not win can we get something like a "Bring back backmarkers" series where Edd talks about famous backmarkers, pre-qualy and all the other wacky stuff that happened in F1 in the early V10s era? I would happily listen to 1h of Edd talking about Aguri Suzuki, I am sure there are so many random things I could learn.

Laura

In terms of the options, a no brainer, 1993, last season of Prost vs Senna, lots of stories which Edd whet the appetite with in his pitch. 1989/90 would be good but have probably been done to death but would still be welcome in future. For me personally anything south of 1993 isn’t prime F1 but hey that’s just me. Look fwd to the shows whichever season wins out

Josh Turnbull

1993. My first season watching F1, and I’ve not watched any races from it for nearly 30 years. Better to have a season that I wasn’t as immersed in as the later years.

Jonathan Bessent

1993? What's next, 1988? I'll still listen obviously, but 1999 would be amazing and far better.

Mr. H.

The local psephologist gold standard (for a little longer).

Alexander Law

Let's get some 1993! I think the chat about learning more about a season like this, the last before the seismic and tragic shift of 1994.. plus Sonic the Hedgehog..

John

Edd almost convinced me. Almost. 99 it is though.

Slip Digby

I can’t believe it’s not 1991.

Matthew Pope

Glenn is firing up Kyalami 93 as we speak 🫠

The Race

Whenever we find a way to oust 1993 from the lead

The Race

I'm hearing on the grapevine that Antony Green has called it. (Very bespoke Aussie reference there). 1993 it is.

Michael Holden

When does the poll close?

Chris Parrott

Or Jonathan Ross in 93s case

Chris Parrott

TBH most of the team probably felt a bit sad of how Damon fell that year.

Alexander Law

MORE. BEN. PAIN! 🤣

Alexander Law

99. Each race that year had something going on.

Tim

Went with 1993. Was my immediate gut reaction when I saw the options and was duly cemented once I heard Edd's preamble.

Michael Holden

Joined just to vote for 93!

Tanner Hamson

Another vote for 1993 here! Great to see it doing well

Bwlch y Groes

Not me voting, then listening to Edd’s diatribe and going back to change my vote to 1993

Max Camposano

+1 to this suggestion

Flavio Arion

I just switched mine. There is still time to do it!

Flavio Arion

Can’t believe how close this is turning out at, 33% v 32% at time of writing. If there’s a tie which will win on countback?? 🤣

Kyle Tyler-Biggs

I can’t wait for 16 races of Ben going “Damon, just go home already”

Mark Andrews

The fact Glenn is willing to go through a whole season of Jacques Villeneuve being a combination of abysmal and extraordinarily unlucky shows he must really enjoy inflicting Damon Hill misery on Ben 😄 Also, if 1999 wins, I think 1993 should be the next season. Edd did a brilliant job.

Simon Turner

I say it’s gotta be Edd! His passion alone wins it!

The Ferrari Fan Club Podcast

I wish I had waited to hear Edd's impassioned argument before I voted- switch my vote to '93!!!

Justin McIsaac

They would all be great but I stand with Ed! I love those cars, my favourite F1 cars to use in sim racing also.

RG

99 has so much going for it… it has to win! - BAR maiden season - Jordan’s superb form (well, frentzen anyway) - Schumi broken leg & Irvines championship challenge - Super sub Salo - Those Eau Rouge big bollocks moments from the BAR pair - Damon bottling it while his teammate was mounting a championship challenge - although we didn’t know it, the last McLaren championship for 2 decades - Mika crying in the woods - Barrichello and Stewart looking superb, but Ford engine being so unreliable - The birth of the wall of champions in Canada - The crazy European Grand Prix that ‘nobody wanted to win’ - Ferrari barge board scandal in Malaysia - Irvine maiden win at the first race! It was awesome… so many highlights. I remember the 2 Stewart’s on fire on the grid in Melbourne like it was yesterday…

Egg Straw

Toshio Suzuki did it for me. I stand with Edd

Marios Gantzoudis

1999 obviously. BAR, Jordans peak, Eddie Irvine in the title hunt? All amazing.

Derek Hourigan

Oh 2005 would put me through Ben Anderson 1997 level pain. I still, 20 years laters, cannot get over the fact that Kimi didn’t win this. It still makes me mad.

Marvin Wehren

They'd all be great to cover, for different reasons, so it wasn't an easy decision. Against my initial expectations, I voted for 1993 - I think the other three seasons were more exciting to watch, but 1993 had a particularly wide range of good talking points and rivalries which I feel would really go well with the BBV10s Revisited format. It was tempting to vote for '99 to annoy Ben some more though.

Ian Simpson

Tough call between 93 and 99

James White

Edd makes a great pitch, but 1999 was my first full F1 season and Frentzen was immense and my hero that year. Gotta happen!

Alex Morris

I’ve said 1993 as if you take away Prost cruising to the title (the BBV10 catchphrase), there’s a lot behind the scenes going on. Also from a personal standpoint it’s the only season from before I followed F1 Edit: just heard the podcast where each person sells their choice. Edds argument is brilliant and would have made me choose 1993 if I hadn’t already. Poor Ben has suffered enough.

Craig Collie

I would have voted '93 just because of ed's enthusiasm but opted for 05 only because I was a massive alonso/Renault fan that year and it was the end if the schumi dominance

Jonathan Parry

C'mon 2003!

Euan Taylor

Tough call, but I went for 2003, I feel it was a little less predictable than the other candidates, peak tyre war before some changes before Monza…

Scott

Edd's choice for the win. 1993 gets remembered for Prost coasting to the title, but there was so much more going on.

John Martin

Went for 1999 because it was the last season I don't remember watching in full at the time and there are more full races on f1tv than 1993!

Ryan Doherty

Maybe you can lead an Indy ‘93 season review Matt

Nate B

‘05 had my vote until the prospect of more Ben torture was conceived

Nate B

1993 because I’m interested in hearing about the last full Senna season.

Lonnie Readioff

1993. Purely because it's the only option that I didn't watch in full at the time.

Jade Duffy

Potentially unpopular and likely to come last, but I voted '05! Would love to hear in depth coverage of the end of the era, given it had some cracking races and were it not for the world's most unreliable McLaren, could've had a great title race too

Max Claydon

Went for 1999 as I am very fond of that season. All good choices! Was very nearly convinced by Edd's manifesto!!

Jimmy Linn

2003, the first year I followed a full season of F1. And a year where almost Ferrari was almost broken

Joseph P Herbias

It has no impact at all on what we choose for the full shows, Patrick. Don't worry!

The Race

1993 or 1999 for me, the others feel a bit too modern tbh. Crazy actually, seeing they both happened 20 years ago now

Jan Alexander

I'd love to see all these seasons covered but 1999 gets my vote even if it means remembering Hill's worst season

Simon Pope

1993 or 1999 for me. I went with 93 because because it is a bit further away from what you already covered in you 97 recap.

David Trippler

I have been hoping you might eventually latch onto that one! I'd love a whole series of season review "commentary" pods where we can watch through history together. I am especially keen to hear you guys dealing with Clive James'...erm..."non-PC" voiceovers 😂

Martin Hills

Has tobe 93, from the memes to Prost sleepwwalking to the title,

Hannibal

Dang, even though I voted for 93 because Edd made such a good case for it, I was equally torn between 03 and 05.

Zach Buchowski

Really wanted to choose both 99 and 03. But went with 99 on the basis of not using up the two best seasons straight away. And also just to make Ben suffer a bit more 🤣🤣🤣

Aidan Dulohery

Does a season being chosen preclude any races from it being chosen for a full BBV10s episode in the future? Might affect how I vote ad there are some races I'd love to see get the full episode treatment!

Patrick

In theory 1993 seems like a lame choice no competition at the front but actually from the perspective of all the massive change behind the scenes there is absolute tons to unpack As a tv viewer 1999 and 03 are superior but I voted for 1993 because it lends its self very well to podcasts

Simracer Sam

Ended up going with '05 because it's the watershed for Schumacher / Ferrari dominance but I'd be happy with any of these. Special mention to '93 because it was the first year I committed to following the full season, buying Autosport and basically immersing myself in the sport

Barry Garlow

For my vote I just thought which seasons do I want to revisit and watch alongside this. And its the two 3's and since 1993 was ahead I've voted for that one. I simply dont know enough about 1993 and every time its been visited on the podcast so far its been great. I also enjoy the older BBV10 episodes from that era more as a rule. I do think 1999 has maybe already been done so much that it feels like theres not a lot more to learn and I never enjoyed 2005 at the time so I dont really want to revisit it.

Ajayrious

1993 please 🤞🏽... Was hoping 1995 as an option

Neetan Kalair

If 1993 doesn't win, Edd can you just go solo and do it yourself?

Ed R Gaming

Unfiltered choice I would have said 1999, but so much of the good stuff has already been covered in standalone episodes, that 2003 deserves some love.

Padraig Reilly

Williams’ last (long) shot for a title + JPM, I already knew what to vote for even before I’d seen the choices

Rol4nd86

It has to be '99 for me, such an unexpected title battle with Frentzen & Irvine in the mix.

Martyn Morris

Having effectively relived 1999 week-by-week last year (those on the X Community will know what I'm on about), coupled with the fact that was the first year I went full-hardcore as an F1 fan, this was a no-brainer for me. But would equally love to hear all four of those seasons covered at some point 🤞🏻

Stuart Coulter

1999 so Ben has to defend the worst Damon Hill season each week.

Josh Suttill

Will you combine 1993 F1 and indycar seasons if that gets picked?

Daniel Ingleton

I would have thought Edd’s choice would be a pre-qualifying only series 🤷‍♂️

Evan Thomas

I voted for 1993 purely because I was a fullyish formed human being for the rest so I wanted to hear some information on 1993. Mainly Edd discussing the disaster that was the Lola 93/30!

CSF

Oooh interesting idea 📝

The Race

1993 for me was one of those that just gives me such great nostalgia vibes - I was 12 at the time, motorsport mad, and living a mile from Donington Park that was the one time I could look out of my bedroom window on race day to know that it was going to be a wet race. I got my first live F1 experience, avidly watched all the races and remember a lot of them quite clearly, and add to that was the whole Mansell in America story which was a great addition for racing mad youngsters like me. Then rounding the year off by standing at Craner Curves watching Mansell get punted off by Tiff Needell in the TOCA shootout at Donington. So many memories

Rich Snape

This is where we find out how many burner accounts Edd has

The Race

They're all good choices.

Simon Emms

I can't believe 1993 is winning so far, what a discerning, appreciative and handsome bunch we are! 😎

Chris Bennett

😂

The Race

Thought Glenn might try sneak through 1997 again.

Andrew Ferg

Whichever year gets chosen can you guys integrate a watch along of the season review? That would be amazing….

Martin Hills

I thought Matt would have gone for 98 since it recently began to grow on him.....

CSF

I was gutted too

Matt Beer

Bugger, no 1992 then.

Dr Ballsack
