⭐️ Early access: Bring Back V10s S11 E1 - Jenson Button's debut F1 season

Bring Back V10s returns for its 11th season, and as has become tradition we are releasing episode one super early for our members!

We're kicking things off with an in-depth look back at Jenson Button's first F1 season with Williams in 2000, with the help of Mark Hughes and ex-Williams insider Jim Wright, alongside host Glenn Freeman.

There's lots of behind-the-scenes stories all the way from how Button got into the frame for the Williams drive, the shootout test against Bruno Junqueira that earned him the seat, and what was really going on inside Williams with Juan Pablo Montoya being readied to replace Button for 2001.

On track we look at the highs and lows of Button's season, from almost scoring points from the back of the grid on his debut, to standout performances at F1's classic circuits like Silverstone, Spa and Suzuka, as well as the times he excelled in mixed conditions - just as he would over the rest of his F1 career.

VOTE FOR US! You can help Bring Back V10s win Best Motorsports Podcast at the 2025 Sports Podcast Awards. Cast your vote here - and if we win we'll add an EXTRA EPISODE to the end of Season 11 as a thank you!

Just listened to this tonight. Great episode for us mega fans. Really enjoyed Mark and Jim's insight (Glenn was great too!) I do wonder how a new F1 fan (or even just someone a bit forgetful, like me) would find it. Could you have set the scene more about Williams at the time? A current F1 fan would assume they were towards the back of the grid like today, and I had only just listened to the 1997 ranking so forgot they had declined by 2000. I mean this message in the spirit of making BBV10s even more popular.

I'll add to that - similar to Ralf's 01, but with a bit more excitement and some higher peaks. I really liked Ralf in the 99-03 period, but exciting isn't a word you'd use to describe him.

Yes, me too. It would be interesting, we'd hear lots about Fisichella being good in shit cars and we can console ourselves that there's a happy ending. I suspect a lot of it will be Mark talking about his limitations that he covered in this episode with a lack of experience and (maybe) a smidge of youthful arrogance. I suspect his dad got him back on the straight and narrow more than anyone.

Simon Emms

I'd wager he wouldn't have been as fast as Montoya, but would have been better on the races and been more consistent.

As a JB fan, I would actually like to hear the fall that was his 01 season.

I remember being in school and waiting to hear how the test went. Looking forward to listening

In the debrief questions section, could you please talk us through the rabbit hole of how 2001 through 2003 could've gone had Williams kept JB after 2000? Especially once Williams was a regular frontrunner again in 2003

It's one thing I miss as an adult is wearing a tape out because you love it so much

Simon Emms

It's made me want to go watch the 00 season review! Which I used to watch to death since I had it on video!

> I'm not sure Button fans will listen to his 01 season Glenn, if you can do BAR 99 and all the shit we give you with JV, we'll listen to Button 01. It would be interesting (if painful) to know why it went so badly wrong. Terrific first episode. Thanks as always
