Ad-free F1 pod: Brazilian GP review

Edd Straw is joined by Scott Mitchell-Malm and Mark Hughes to unpick a very eventful race weekend in Sao Paulo, blighted by bad weather, in which Max Verstappen scored arguably his finest Grand Prix victory yet.

They discuss how Max's race, including how he came through from such a lowly grid slot, and look at what his victory means in the context of the title fight. There's also reaction to Alpine's shock double podium and discussion about where Lando Norris and McLaren's race fell apart, plus the guys answer the usual bumper crop of questions from The Race Members' Club.

Great pod. Really enjoyed it. I love the idea of a Members pod discussing the pitfalls of life on the road.

I'm not Max's biggest fan - I'm indifferent to him. But that was an impressive win. Def not a fluke. Not sure if you visit The-Race much, but over there these same people gets blasted for being anti-Max fans, especially Scott. Some context: I don't have a fav team or driver. I love F1, and I love The-Race because I think they've got the most balanced group of F1 Journalists going around. 🙂

MotoGP points system would work pretty well here. Top 15 mean keeps an element of the fight for any points, and scoring points still has an element of achievement; however, it helps define the lower finishing positions better without it coming down to outlier results like this. Sauber would still basically have nothing, a handful of points here and there for each driver, but we'd have a more accurate picture of the Williams/Haas/Alpine/RB battle.

Not sure why everyone is impressed with Max. The only reason he won is the red flag luck. The whole race was a fluke. This is clear by the fact that Ocon and Gasly were up there with him. The 3 of you sound like Verstappen fans. I've heard Mark sound reluctant to compliment other winners. Now I know why. I 💯 agree with the members who suggested doing away with being permitted to change tyres under a red flag. It'd be interesting to calculate who really won past races if you deduct pit stops from everyone who has benefited from it.
