Ad-free MotoGP pod: Marquez's improbable win and Martin's growing lead

Jorge Martin has 20 points in hand over MotoGP title rival Pecco Bagnaia with three rounds to go in 2024 - but will he regret the five points Marc Marquez took off him at Phillip Island?

And how was Marquez in position to do so anyway, given he was 13th heading into the first corner after a surreal tear-off mishap?

Valentin Khorounzhiy, Simon Patterson and Megan White tackle these questions on the Australian Grand Prix edition of The Race MotoGP Podcast.

They also look at the big sprint crash between Marco Bezzecchi and Maverick Vinales, consider Phillip Island's wildlife problem and answer questions from The Race Members Club.

It was not all aero. On the previous lap, MV12 passed Bez and OVER RAN turn one, which meant Bez passed him back on the inside. On the next lap, MV12 passed Bez but then braked EARLY and very hard. If you view the crash review shown before the GP video, MV12 is also shown FULL braking after passing Bez. When watching the helicopter view, there are two sets of wide white lines in the grass, each with a white box to the right of the track. I assume these are top speed sensors. MV12 started braking soon after the first one. If you pause the sprint review video, you can see the white box on the right where MV12 starts to down shift (342 km/h) and then braking (337 km/h). He is eventually on FULL brake when at 298 km/h. He is down to 229 km/h when Bez makes contact.
