Early access: BBV10s S10 E8 - Germany 1997 - with Gerhard Berger!

Gerhard Berger's final F1 victory was an emotional one, as he dominated the 1997 German GP at Hockenheim not only on his return after missing three races, but also in the aftermath of his father's death.

In a special, additional episode for season 10 of Bring Back V10s, we've combined the next episode in our members-only '1997 Revisited' series with an exclusive interview with Berger, where he recalls his memories from that weekend.

Before that, Glenn Freeman, Matt Beer, Ben Anderson and Edd Straw discuss the main talking points from the weekend, including Berger's winning return, the breakdown of his relationship with his Benetton team, plus Giancarlo Fisichella's heartbreak with Jordan, and a miserable weekend for Williams and Jacques Villeneuve.

I remember well I was just about old enough to hold an N64 controller and its 1997 F1 game had a challenge where you could play as Fisi in this race, get hit by the puncture, try and nurse it to the pits, and then go and chase down the leaders again. Good to learn more about the actual race!

πŸ˜… Great story

The Race

I was on holiday at the age of 16 with my then girlfriend and her family for the first time. They weren't really F1 fans, even so they let this Damon Hill fan watch the Hungarian GP. They got to watch my euphoria after ITV missed Hill's pass for the lead (thanks ad breaks) then watched my despair as my whole world came down around me and I was miserable for the next few days. Thank God we'd broken up by 1999!!

At least it will be short-lived

The Race

I've never looked forward to the end of a series before, but how annoying he's going to be to you lot is going to be brilliant fun

Not sure he'd be capable of that! If anything he's going to be unbearable in the Hungary episode πŸ˜‚

The Race

Very happy that Ben is keeping up his "Damon..." five words. I really hope he's setting up the ultimate wind up by not mentioning Damon once during Hungary revisited
