Early access: BBV10s S10 E7 - Stewart's rollercoaster debut season

On this episode, Bring Back V10s turns the clock back to 1997 when three-time world champion Jackie Stewart and his son Paul joined the F1 grid with their eponymous team Stewart Grand Prix.

Glenn Freeman is joined by Edd Straw and Matt Beer to look back on what proved an up and down debut season in the sport, which included Rubens Barrichello’s stunning podium in Monaco, a woeful reliability record that resulted in just eight classified finishes out of a possible thirty-four, underwhelming performances from the then much-heralded Jan Magnussen, and behind-the-scenes political manoeuvring with the FIA…

Awesome pod, this was the season I fell in love with F1 as a 13/14 year old!

As a 13 year old Scotsman I was overjoyed when Stewart entered F1. I can remember trying to pick my fantasy F1 team in one of the magazines, and I could never find the budget to have Schumi and DC in the same car haha

I very much approve of the attempt to revisit received wisdom, especially with ~30 years of hindsight. I think in this case that the weight of evidence backs up the received wisdom in this case.

Great! More listening material for my commute 😁👍

One day 😅, we’ll need more than one show for it though! 🫠

Yeah that stat was very compelling! Thanks for the question, we’re really enjoying including those

😂😂😂 excellent confession

Imagine being the person who asks a question about "things you were wrong about at 13" and then realised that you were actually 15 in 97...

What a brilliant pod. (And a brilliant series). I was the Michael that tried to make a case for Magnussen in the Members' question. Loved the stat Edd came up with where Barrichello lead over 75% of the laps when they were both on track.

Michael Holden

Really hope we get a follow up episode in the future on the Jaguar saga...!!??
