Why did Mercedes let Perez under cut Russell after the first stint? It seemed like they were toying with the possibility of a one stopper, but ultimately went with the conventional two stopper and lost too much to Perez with their indecisiveness

Abu

Why didn’t Max get penalised for the contact with Hamilton? Isn’t part of the point of the new racing regs to apply consistency to penalties regardless of outcome? Max was clearly out of control in the braking zone and could’ve easily ended up finishing Hamilton’s race.

Campbell Stafford

Did McLaren really need to give Norris the undercut on Piastri in order to stay ahead of Hamilton, given Norris finished 13 seconds ahead of him? That seems to be the cause of the entire argument.

Ed Parr

Tech-related Q: have seen suggestions that going forward Red Bull may use the ‘haunchless’ engine cover/bodywork arrangement (on VER’s car this weekend) for low/med speed circuits, with the original ‘haunched’ arrangement (on PER’s car this weekend) for high speed. Are there any historical precedents of teams switching between such visually distinctive bodywork arrangements in the same season for different circuit types?

Connor

Why, McLaren? Just why?

James Paine

Oops. Piastri was mostly matching Lando’s times in the race today. Any unusual circumstances at play today or has Oscar ticked that box?

David Shankle

What is Lando Norris doing wrong with his starts? Seems to be a common theme now, decent reaction off the line, then the next phase he seems to lose out! Can't remember the last time he gained a place from the start!

Andrew Ferg

How worrying is the trajectory Red Bull have been on with drama and performance since this year? They went from top of the class to being overtaken by McLaren. Even the upgrades were not enough to swing the tide into their favour. Bonus: There were reports (by Erik van Haren) of Marko committing to Red Bull until the end of '26 and therefore Max's escape clause would be gone. Wouldn't that seem like a very strange timing to do that now that their Hungary performance was nowhere? If anything if I were Max I would want to keep my options (the Merc seat) open more than ever.

Optyfen

Much has been made of OP’s need to improve his tire management

David Shankle

There seemed to be extreme reactions to protect against the undercut this race (Ricciardo after Magnussen, Norris after Lewis, etc). Why was this?

Katrina

Would the better course of action for Norris have been to let Piastri through early on and then make a race of it for the last 10 laps or so? More nervy for McLaren but the win can’t be disputed for whoever ends up winning? Or was protecting the 1-2 the ultimate goal?

Chris Smith

What did we learn about the Red Bull game of musical chairs from this weekend? The three other drivers (A.K.A. not Max Verstappen) all had their fair share of woes this weekend. Thoughts?

Dalton Reck

Does winning under team orders take some of the shine off for Oscar? He seemed flat after the race despite his first win

Katrina

Was the real winner of today's race Andrea Stella? He's sent a clear message that no individual is bigger than the team, and followed through with enforcing the rules of engagement. Will this give him cash in the bank for future driver control, which might be needed later if McLaren continues with such a fast car and an evenly matched pair of drivers?

Steve D

Why did McLaren make it so difficult for themselves?

Michael Grayless

Did Mclaren learn a valuable lesson in driver management in a title fight today?

Matthew McMahon

Is this the last straw for Perez?

Matthew McMahon

Would Norris have let piastri through if it wasn’t for his first race win? I definitely feel the fact Oscar had not yet won a race played a part in the teams desperation for lando to let him through.

Jack Lunn

1. Is Verstappen the same driver from 2021 when not in a superior car to his competitors? He seems over aggressive, hugely hypocritical in terms of race craft and generally, unfair whenever racing a car with the same pace and seems to end up in so many collisions compared to all others around him. 2. Is that the most underwhelming way to win your first F1 race? 3. Where did that Ferrari pace come from! 4. Is Lando concerned about the longer term prospect of Piastri as his McLaren teammate, perhaps eventually overtaking him as number 1?

Dan Neale

Was Perez’ comeback drive enough to keep him in that seat ?

Jack Lunn

McLaren are clearly the fastest car but have Mercedes overtaken red bull ?

Jack Lunn

What prevented Oscar from catching Lando on his last stint with fresher tires? Is this evidence that the skill gap between the two is much larger than one would expect?

Juan Arevalo

Full disclosure. I am an Aussie, however I think McLaren made a blue there. It's all about the championship isn't it? Oscar did make a couple of mistakes as well. Even Oscars reaction post race suggested he was uncomfortable as how it all played out. How do you guys see it?

Franchez

Will lando fighting back at team orders come back to bite him, will Oscar be mad at this?

Andrew Haayer

Will there be any concerns with Red Bull and the damage costs Perez has been building up since Monaco, in the budget cap era multiple big damage bills could eat into future development budget. How bigger a danger is it that Sauber end up the season pointless? And would this put any pressure on Andreas Seidl as it feels the team is limping towards 2026?

Thomas Knights

What is it with Max racing against Lewis Vs other drivers on the grid, always seems magnetic if in anywhere near similar machinery that they end up in contact

Daniel Ingleton

Absolute disgrace from McLaren today, Norris was allowed to race Piastri through middle stint, they decide to pit lando first and then all of sudden they weren't meant to be racing, Lando should have been ruthless and won the race. Hope those 7 points don't cost McLaren and lando come Abu Dhabi

Daniel Ingleton

With Leclerc doing a long first stint, was stopping early for the second stop a poor move, it seemed to undermine the tyre advantage he had managed to create.

Thomas Knights

Have McLaren actually learnt anything, they seem to have just repeated the same mistake of trying to cover Mercedes when there was no clear need to?

Callum Duffy

While Marko and others seem to be saying everything is stable at Red Bull, now it feels like Max is incredibly fed up and making it known. Is this going to keep feeding the Red Bull to Mercedes storyline?

Joe B

Does a driver's whinging over the radio have an effect on the mechanics on the shop floorM

Simon Emms

With the radio messages to Piastri in quali (his eye roll in response was iconic) and McLaren's apparent jitters in race strategy/management the last several rounds: where does the conversation around how McLaren is adjusting to racing at the front, versus from the midfield land? (Sent pre-race, so the context for this question may change).

Stranded_Colourwork

It will be interesting to see if McLaren sacrifice Piastri for the benefit of Norris' race. I believe they should treat strategy like they have a young Prost and Senna circa '88. Give them both a race winning strategy and watch them race!

Nick of Oz

Yes, depending on the money he's willing to pay to get out of it. It could be a modern equivalent of Senna driving for Williams for free. Seems fanciful though, even though I'd love it to happen

Simon Emms

Is it too optimistic to take McLaren's getting both cars to the end of the pitlane first after the second red flag as evidence that they've addressed their poor strategy calls?

Simon Emms

Is there a way for Alonso to get out of his contract to get the soon to be open Red Bull seat?

Jan Robohm

Will Perez be dropped from the Red Bull squad entirely if he gets replaced by Lawson?

Mr. H.

Should Perez be dropped before the summer break ??

Jack Lunn
