it’s really cool how this song is both pretty clean and “simple” but also busy and chaotic (in a good way lol) at the same time! loveee the layering, i hope in the future more artists will follow billie eilish’s lead and fully release isolated vocals versions of songs/albums!

It sounds like a party with all the different elements

Joel, hearing the excitement and the way you speak your "nerd" talk.....very sexy. However, the concept of fusion in music isn't new. It is a very interesting subject. Some of my favorite groups that did fusion; UB40, Fine Young Cannibals, the Police, and Sting. There are lots more. Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Reba MacIntyre, and damn his name eludes me. He did the Devil goes down to Georgia. The excitement in showing how this happens is really cool. Even the Harry Styles song Same as it Was is a fusion. Thank you, and I enjoy this song as well. I am surprised that you hadn't given a listen. I don't think Beyonce started this fusion, she has popularized it though.✌️❤️😂

I don't quite understand how melodic math or math rock works (toe 「トー」introduced me to this) but I think Hip Hop artistes place emphasis on rhythmic flow to define their style. When you went 1-2-1-2, my mind went straight to Royal & the Serpent's "Overwhelmed" song and Ryan Mack's remix. I like both styles because of the jarring difference between heightened emotions of feeling anxious and the flow, especially at chorus, is kinda robotic (is this the correct description?) to emphasize the constant numbness of feeling this over and over again and also how Ryan emote like he understood the lyrics and feelings well. I digressed.. When you and Nevin deepdived the song, I'm listening both of you analysing how the song builds up to the eventual gang vocals, that intentional pause and ending. Thanks for leaving this nerdy snack for us patrons, Joel~~💜

Just a thought - can you enjoy a song without analyzing it? Thanks for the additional footage. This type of video really helps me understand music better.

Wasn’t the biggest fan of the song before but this breakdown has made me enjoy it a little more :D Thanks Joel!! Hope you had a great Christmas!

Thank you for the breakdown Joel! I'm happy to see you do a breakdown of a different type of song! I normally prefer old school traditional country, but I enjoy the beat and how the violin sounds here. Maybe because I love the band Alabama and their fiddle solos, the violin reminds me of it a bit lol! Thank you Joel💖
