My favorite song from the songwriting streak
Added 2024-07-08 17:58:35 +0000 UTCSome of you asked me what my favorite song I wrote was from the streak, and the answers might surprise you - two of the less voted for songs speak the deepest to me, but I find it’s usually more because of the potential I as a writer see in it than anything else, and my relationship to the lyrics.
The three highest voted songs were “I choose you”, “I’m waiting in line” and “Stressed girl”.
The first two have the most built out productions, which probably means I’ve shared a bit more of my vision for those songs with you - it makes sense (and maybe they ARE also the best ones!). “Stressed Girl” seemed to speak directly to many of you, which I loved to see.
Additionally, all of those three songs were upbeat/faster and relatively happy - could it be that part of it is that you enjoy seeing me happy and want me to be happy? ❤️ And that happy music makes you feel happier? That’s definitely something I want to make more of it it gives you good vibes!!
Ok so as for my favorites, the ones I feel I can expand on and that speak to me - are two not very highly voted songs. “Waterfall” and “When it ends”.
“Waterfall” I like, because I have plans in my head on expanding the concept of experiences you’ve had with people in the past still running through you and being part of you - relatives that aren’t with you anymore, and perhaps even watching your own influence run like a waterfall through your future kids or something. Maybe even the idea of the love of a potential higher being running through you like a waterfall. I also just think that having the audience shouting the response “waterfall” back at you live would be really cool. I might experiment with using normal vocals instead of falsetto too, or at least layering an octave lower, having a chorus be more of a gang vocal situation.
For “when it ends”, I think I just really liked the message of that song, perhaps the lyrics should be put to another melody or at least we should try having more production in there, but I do really enjoy trying to share an appetite for life and nice experiences, I feel like myself and many people around me struggle with having an appetite for life outside of work, productivity and just fulfilling our responsibilities.
I am really happy to see what you guys voted for though, “I choose you” seems to be number one right now and I definitely want to finish that one.
I might revisit the lyrics of “waiting in line” - I guess looking back it feels a little banal and just lighthearted, compared to the other songs. Nothing wrong with that, i just feel like I could do better even with the happy theme.
I’m going to go through all of this with a music producer friend, and I want to see what we can do with all of them. no songs are out of the running and I appreciate you guys input a lot. I had so much fun, I’ll probably be back at it soon again. For now I just want to revisit some normal YouTube video making :)

As a listener I chose mostly based on sound & not lyrics. And I vastly prefer upbeat and FAST.

But really I loved all of them. Plus I can see me belting Waiting in Line in the car. Love the idea of hearing Waterfall in a lower vocal range. It really was hard to choose just one song since there were things o liked about each of them. I wonder what the results would have looked like if we could pick our top three (or five, or seven lol)

Waterfall I personally think would be nicer with your original voice. And both songs have a potential to go in the same kind of direction like „Home“ that you shared with us before. So I am exited to see what will come out when you redo/update them. I really liked seeing you experiment with different styles!

'When it ends' is also my favorite, along with 'I choose you', which seemed like a following concept.. first inspires what can matter most in life (or at least one of the most, since it's not forever), and the second puts to such peace, even happiness with that mood. 'Waterfall' hit definitely the most 💜 Think you're right about seeing you happy, and wanting for you to be happy can play a big role with these songs too. Loved reading this text! I can write about something really personal to me and it'll not be as well liked as something I wrote on a whim, that really isn't on a serious note, and people think it's amazing. Doesn't mean they are any less important or don't have an impact on anyone. I appreciate you shared them all and can't wait to see what you do with them or news ones in the future!

I think you're right about why a lot of us, including myself, upvoted the 3 most upbeat songs(I picked I'm Waiting In Line), because we do want to see you being happy and enjoying what you're doing. And yes we probably like the Happy songs because we like thinking that you are happy. But a lot of the time sad songs resonate more. If you can share an emotion with someone that's really special. You could finish all of them and make an album
