This one I wrote a while back. I think this one has a more cohesive feel/lyric combo than my usual "sad lyrics upbeat vibe" approach. A bit copy-pastey as song demos often are, but I think you'll get the gist!

The concept reminds me of a song I heard on the radio a lot during the summer I think (can't remember who it's by or even the title lol); I think that speaks to how relatable this song is! If I had to critique it, I would say that the music doesn't seem to fit. Maybe that was intentional. Regardless, this could really shape up to be a compelling song!

I have mentioned this before on some of my cringy simpy comments on some of your YT videos, that u have the kind of a voice that makes u feel the lyrics and that's still true. I think the swipe to right part is clever. I have never been in Tinder, but what I have understood is that it's mostly one night f...stand market, so that makes the lyrics even more sad in a way, if the girl wasted something good because of some possibly not lasting tinder thing... Also makes the brain think about the scenarios behind the story.. or maybe I just have silly overthinking brain that reads too much into things 😅 Anyways, I don't mind the shit and the fucking hurts...I think those fit the mood of the song and kinda reveals the feelings behind the song. Then I have a weird opinion, that u can print to a toilet paper and wipe ur butt with 😁 I kinda liked the lyrics and the music separately 🫣 😅 That music I could use to relax and slow down the heart rate (kinda could use that kind of an instrumental version right now 🤪) and I like the lyrics for dwelling on the sad moments.. But like u said rougher stuff that's unfinished, so I'm looking forward to hearing what kind of stuff u would do to this song and what it ends up sounding like when u are done with it, if that's what u are planning on doing 😊 I hope u are ok and that your family member is doing better 🙂💙

I'm also thinking of doing a mini cover to this song if that's okay with you Joel. I loving those synthy vibes , beats. Was this all programmed into ur PC or was/is their any actual instruments used in it. Also I just noticed that what's that tiny sound effect at the very end when the song ends there's this sound (hard to even explain it, please tell me I'm not going crazy and other people can hear it too) , what is that noises/sounds at the very end of song like almost as a staticky sound or something lol On another note alot of the lyrics I can really relate to/with & I can feel it very well, very moving , touching for me imo. Some of lyrics that are touching, feel the mostest and can relate to - "does he make u laugh, like I made u laugh, I'm so glad for you, I don't why I can't move on , I am ok , are you sure it's him u want, I don't really knoww Coz no matter what u say, it'll fuckin hurt me!" I would need to be in a certain mood to actively seek it out though but that's just down to personal preference and I'm still intrigued to see where you would want to take the song next! 🙂

Not sure what it is exactly tho 🤔 Definitely "fucking" at the end kinda ruins the *chill* vibe of still sad song. Pure melody wise it seems good, I could probably vibe to it at late nights or something. But when it comes to lyrics I'm totally not into such "love hurts" type of songs (especially pop) and they just turn me into a grumpy, edgy teenager 😅 Ig it's just too specific to me and I can't really resonate with it (and I might be also tired of all the love/breakup songs there are, sorry 🙏) But I am still curious how it could sound like, when finished.

2023-02-08 06:22:32 +0000 UTCI’ve listened to the song couple times and here are the things that I definitely like: simple (not layered or with lots of high notes) singing but very emotional at the same time (it just sets the vibe of the song to me and helps me feel it aka makes it relatable for me), 1st verse and “does he make you feel…” part. Things that I didn’t like are 2nd verse (lyrics wise), and “shit”, “fucking” (not fitting the vibe imho). Overall I’d like to see this demo to become the finished song and I think I may add it to my playlist of favourites. Thank you for sharing and taking time to read the comment.

We all know Joel loves his gang vocals but I really like it just simple one vocal on this song it sounds really good and I love the pronunciations. It's a demo so it obviously need some production stuff but I really love it

The "I don't wanna know" is hella catchy and could easily be put towards the beginning of the song as a lead in to the verse. The tinder swipe right is clever but needs something more extra to go in the verse with it. Just making things up..... "Our future wasn't bright so, You found someone else to swipe right, He's your type and I can tell by the way he looks at you, That you have no regrets but I do. It's kinda lame when all I hear is your name, I need to move on, Find a better me so I can forget you. I don't know maybe I'm wrong but they just need padding without being too samey and I'm no expert just a thought. X

Only critique is maybe speed up the tempo a little bit to be a little less sleepy, but it’s great! You have so many good ones- I know ya said EP but do you think you have enough for a full album? Or do you think EP first then some singles?

I think some dynamics are missing in the verses to create the right vibe for me, but that may be because of the early stage of song 😉

(I know I'm totally Goldilocks-ing you rn 🐻🥣) It feels a bit slow with the singing. I don't know if I'm making sense, but it feels like it could flow better if you figure out the rhythm with the lyrics. I definitely am on team less is more with the vocals and love the rawness of your voice in this one 💛

The melodic shapes are so similar between the pre-chorus and the chorus, maybe there’s an opportunity for some variation in there? If not melody, maybe phrase length. A few longer phrases leading up to the chorus might make a cool build? maybe you already have bigbrain production thoughts for how you'd vary those sections. Thanks for posting rough stuff for us, it’s very cool to hear 😎 ETA: Even though it’s a nice rhyme, I tripped over “feel so lame". The whole song paints a picture of what the singer’s going through in realizing this awful stuff - and the feeling that comes across is so much stronger than lame, it’s a gut punch, to me lame doesn’t do the moment justice. …I guess I wonder if it might be worth sacrificing the rhyme. ps. sorry so long, I'll try to limit my comments to "👍" on the next one, lol

The lyrics are great 👍🏼 but I'm not sure how well that melody works tbh... The further into the song you get the better it flows so maybe that first part just needs cleaning up a bit..? That 'I don't want to know' part is very you- like, that's my boii! Love the overall vibe and the lyrics are very relatable. Definitely would like to hear more of this one xx

One listen and it's pleasantly stuck in my head. Not every song needs to be full of layers and synth and other effects. Simplicity can be beautiful. I'd love to hear this one finished - it would definitely end up on repeat! More variety equals a well-rounded album you can listen to without skipping songs. Really loving this one, Joel, thanks for sharing it!

More raw and personal. It just feels more authentic. Don't mess with that, please. If I had anything to say in the "don't love it"... The "swipe right" makes me cringe a little. Probably the boomer in me, but that kinda stuff feels like it won't age well. The "I don't really want to know" section is a little too samey. Not totally on the nose, just maybe a shift between the first and the "say" would keep me interested there. All of that said, I DO like most of it. Would love to see where that would go.

Phil Collins double chorus sounds a little bit lazy but maybe you will make the repeat a bit more amped up in the production. Also appreciate the typo that says "curse" instead of chorus in the final chorus :D
